3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle. Pours inky black with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet grainy chocolate malts, dark fruit, and some bourbony alcohol.
The flavor is sweet roasted chocolate malts, tart dark fruits, some black licorice and a roasted bitter finish with some bourbony alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with creamy carbonation.
Overall, a decent imperial stout. All the roast kind of clashed with the sweet, slightly tart, fruit.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at River North 9/28/2013. Pours jet black. Brown head. Aroma of coffee, toffee, tobacco and raisins. Very smooth, malty with no hint of hop bitterness. Very smooth for almost 9.3%. Some interesting fruitiness and yeasty flavors as the beer warms. Nice beer for sipping as the seasons grow colder.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours black into the glass, with a frothy brown head that leaves thick lacing. The nose is of roasts and dark fruits with a healthy malt bill. Flavors are dry-roasted with dark esters and black malt, bitter chocolate, black cherries and finish with a roasted grainy bitter. The mouthfeel is smooth with semi-active carbonation, light ABV and tons of roasted bitter effervescence on the palate. Nicely done, with an interesting Belgian yeast twist on the impy stout. I like it.

4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Appearance: Pours black with a light brown lacing.
Smell: I get chocolate and roasted malt with some belgian spices.
Taste: Starts off with strong chocolate and roastiness then changes to a subtle sweetness rounded off with a hint of hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body carbonation. As it warms up the beer is gets better with each sip.
Overall: A one of kind of stout that I will be repurchasing.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This russian imperial is no doubt unique from many other stouts. Nose has notes of roasted coffee bean, and sweet molasses. Pours a deep brown that leaves behind decent head retention. The hops are well balanced with the malts used. Somewhat of a dry, spicy finish and for a 9+% abv this stout drinks very nice even on a 75 degree summer night.
