Tap at Amato’s Ale House, Denver - 01/06/12. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a thin white head. Caramel malts, hops, tropical fruit on the nose. Grapefruit, a little pine, sweet malt taste. High end of medium bodied, moderate carbonation with a bitter finish.

650 ml. bottle. Pours a thin short lived white head, with some lacing, over a hazy, dark gold (SRM 6) body.......nose is light toffee/caramel, light citrus peel, slightly musty........taste is light toffee/caramel, honey sweetness, hints of pine, licorice, finishing with an orange peel, pineapple, apricot laden (a fruit salad) moderate bitterness.....mouth feel light of medium, carbonation low. Although the label says Belgium style, I am unsure. The hops were done with a relatively light hand, resulting in a slightly malt forward beer. There were no unusual esters or phenolics from the yeast. I think all the fruit aromas and flavors were from the hops. The rating of this beer is difficult, because I don’t know what the brewer was aiming for. In one space it could be brilliant, in another a disaster. It is a nice beer, just not what would routinely be in the glass as a D/IIPA. How about calling it a Belgian Golden Strong? BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

Tap. Pours clear dark gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is citrus, pine, and resin hops with biscuit malt and tropical fruity esters. Flavor is medium hops and heavy bitterness, supporting malt, fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Decent double, belgian yeast adds some subtle complexity to an other wise pretty straightforward DIPA. Bit cloudy and hot.

On draft at River North. Pours a hazy orange-amber with a white head. Nose is nice malt, lemon and citrusy hops, Belgian yeast, pepper, and slight fruit. Flavor is similar- nice malt, big citrus, some pepper, yeast and fruit. Sweetness. Medium in body and interesting.

Bottle in Breck with family. Poured a hazy copper with little-to-no head that quickly dissipated. Aromas of clove, banana, esters, phenols, and a light soapiness. Taste is very spice forward, with hints of clove, fruity esters, pepper, dust, dirt, and a medium bitter finish. Mouthfeel is medium with high carbonation. Really reminds me of an earthy and hopped up hefeweizen, kind of different, but not bad.

On tap at Rackhouse poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of biscuit, orange zest, light grapefruit and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pink grapefruit, light orange zest and a hint of pine with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy orange with thin white head, aroma brought notes of thick fruity lemon, hints of biscuit, nice white grape, pear, touch of spice but fairly sweet, hints of grass in there. Taste is a mix of biscuit, bread notes, touch of fruity esters with some lemon, peach notes, hints of sweet bubblegum slight grass and pine, finishing fairly sweet.

Semi clear copper, nearly amber, with a laceful white head. Aroma is resin and dank citrus with some rusty toffee aromas. Flavor is plenty bitter but nicely balanced with some rusty caramel and toffee tones. Nice hoppy tones of bitter grapefruit and slight pine resin, a little bitter but overall nicely balanced and nuanced. Couldn’t taste much Belgo yeast, but it’s a fine brew all together.

Tap @ River North. Pours a fairly hazy, orange appearance with an off white head. Fair fruitiness in the nose along with some pepper notes from the Belgian yeast. Kind of an interesting flavor with some peach/apricot/citrusy notes, a bit of spiciness from the yeast, and moderate bitterness. I got some booze notes but they weren’t overly harsh by any means.
