3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
375ml bottle. Sweet caramel aroma with notes of Belgian yeast, dark fruit and a little bit of booze. Pours dark copper colored with a thin tan head that has poor retention and lacing. Starts with sweet caramel maltiness and a little bit of spicy Belgian yeast flavors. Finishes very smooth with excellent dark fruit sweetness cut slightly by the heat of a bit booze that is present at the very end. Nice quad, although I didn't expect the boozy flavors.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Clear brown with a big foamy beige head that had excellent retention. Aroma of raisins and Belgian yeast. Taste is rather fruity with esters that feature banana, raisins, dates, plums, vanilla, toffee and some mild cola. The palate seemed just a bit thin for the style--I like fuller viscosity for this style .Finished long and sweet. Overall: Nice quad.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle, undated, though assumedly reasonably fresh, acquired in a trade with THE Ernest, shared with my friend on 8/3/15.
Not all that dark for a dark Quad, though with plenty of chestnut, mahogany and lighter beige hues. Good clarity to it and an initially full off-white head that slowly recedes to cover.
I was going to go off on a rant about Abt vs. Quad vs. BSA but you know what? I care less and less about whoís calling what a what, to the point where I almost donít care at all. Brew a radler and call it a saison? Donít care. Brew a BSA and call it a Quad? REALLY donít care. Ok, before I get sucked back in to ranting, letís move on to the aroma, shall we?
Soft raisins, toffee and lots of honey and vanilla, as far as the malts are concerned. Ester-wise weíve got a touch of citrus, pear and apple, but really, this thing is nicely reserved in that department, with no brutish fruits or heavily spicy phenolics. No alcohol either. Light sugar cookies on the finish with no alcohol....very curious indeed.
Flavor is soft, with a lightly perfume-like alcohol note gracing the palate while vanilla cream, raisin and caramel sweetness, nicely malty but well-attenuated, show through the middle, ending on light acidity and fruity esters that, to reiterate, donít suck. The carbonation is mild, but engaging enough, the texture soft and comforting and the balance pretty spot-on between alcohol, sweetness and acidity/dryness. It drinks like a 5-6% beer, which is impressive and manages, while lacking some deep complexities of the very best examples, to eschew any heavy/punchy/messy esters, bitter/astringent phenols, syrupy-sweet candi sugar (Iím cringing just thinking about it), rampant alcohol, low drinkability and any off-flavors or strange yeast-derived compounds whatsoever. Not too bad at all!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour is copper brown with red hues and a tight small bubbles light brown head. Nose is fairly well balanced, candied sugars, sweet cherries, moderate yeast and light spice. Taste has a touch of twang in the finish detracting from the flavors a bit. More on the sweet side like the nose, candied sugar with strong cherry. The yeast note is pronounced in the back with a light spice. Good medium body and moderate carbonation.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Glowing, clear, deep amber to mahogany body supports a tight, 1.5", frothy crowned, bone white head falling to a thin, whispy sheet and thick frothy ring with leopard lace all around
Controlled richness with flowing complexities of gooey sweet roll, dates, fruit cocktaill, subtle woody earhty bitterness, red and white vinous qualities with integrated, brightening Belgian yeast esters, all on a silky, juicy medium body transitioning flawlessly to residuals of the previously mentioned components with a touch of glowing warmth building throughout the drink
I really enjoy the restraint and balance while maintaining high fidelity aromas and flavors

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Mostly clear chestnut brown body with a fine off-white head. Quiet nose shows a strong raisin core with nutty brown sugar and cinnamon spice malt and phenols. Trace alcohol and the cinnamon twizzler and cherry syrup gives it a slight cough syrup resemblance, but the alcohol isnít sharp and it holds itself together well. Medium-full bodied, rich, off-dry up front with a lengthy sweet finish. Itís cleanly fermented and balanced well in the mouth, bitterness and acid standing up well against sugar while maintaining richness of body from front to back. All around solid beer, no noticeable flaws and every facet aligned well. The malt and yeast character similar to what you find called Abbey Dubbel, but of course the body and alcohol are more in line with Quad / Belgian Strong.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Aroma of raisins, dark fruit, yeast, and maybe hints of metal. Pours a cherry amber with a strong tan head and minimal lacing. The taste is an astringent sweet. Malts, nuts, dark fruit with some gain on the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, ok, but not favorite quad.
