COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This dark, mahogany coloured ale was a favourite with the workers in 19th century London.
Our Porter is well balanced between malt and hops with subtle notes of chocolate and coffee resulting in a smooth and very drinkable dark beer.
Eighty Eight Robust Porter is unfiltered and bottle conditioned for maximum taste and enjoyment.

1 Litre growler at the brewery. Jet black color with a nice one finger light mocha colored head. Good body to the head and holds up quite well. Good spotty lacing. Earthy coffee with chocolate and slight amounts of licorice and brown sugar. Coffee, chocolate, caramel, earth, and brown sugar taste. Good amount of hop bitterness. A bit over carbonated but was warned that this batch was a bit too carbed. So noted. Lots of caramel in the mid and back palate. Slightly sweet and slick. A couple of thin spots but it does work out well. Well hidden ABV. Sweet coffee and slightly grainy finish. Good, solid porter. Nothing fancy and that is fine.

A beer which is all about the after taste, chocolate and coffee ever lasting aromas after every sip, a beautiful dark color, amazing head, sourness that compliments and confirms the coffee aromas, texture is perfect to represent a porter and sets it aside from Stouts, small bubble carbonation that collapses in the palate to create a creamy mouth feel, this is a PORTER ! It should not be compared or mistaken for a dark ale, or a stout !!

Medium brown, has a chocolatey nose that’s a bit one-dimensional. Goes through a sweeter chocolatey taste. Has light toffee..in the dark mild style but way bigger.

bottle, picked up at express liquors in downtown newcastle. nearly black with a light purple tinge to it; creamy texture; some stewed plums in the aroma; forest fruit jam, cocoa powder; modest bitterness; steady and pretty drinkable

From 330 ml bottle. Pours a solid dark brown/black with a sudsy tan head that subsides to a cap. Aromas of milk chocolate, raisins, prunes and coffee. Taste shows dark fruit at the front before a coffee bean and dark chocolate bitterness leading into a smoky note at the end. Smooth finish with a chocolatey aftertaste. Good stuff.

From a 330ml bottle on 17/7/2015. Pours not far off black with a small to medium tan head. Has quite a strong chocolate aroma. Sweet chocolate dominates the flavour too, but there’s also a good dash of coffee, and some vanilla, against a light roasty background. It displays a decent bitter kick, which sets off the sweetness nicely. Medium to full body with average carbonation. This is a very tasty, well made porter. Tried two from this brewer so far and they’re both winners.

On tap at The Archive. Pours thick and dark with a tightly bubbled tan head, laces well, smooth with strong chocolate running through the roasted flavours. Mild coffee on the aftertaste, I liked it a lot.

An excellent example of porter with malt and hops complimenting each other. Tastes of caramel, chocolate and coffee.

Draught at Archive Beer Boutique, Brisbane. Poured an opaque black with a wide mahogany edge tint. Light tan bubbles as a collar that laced poorly as film on the glass. Aroma of sweet coffee, condensed milk, and with a hint of roasted malts. Taste roasted up front with milk chocolate and a somewhat tangy/spicy hops bitterness. Light to medium body, light for a porter and lighter than I was expecting. Smooth, creamy with a very slight tangy bitterness on the finish. OK.
