Ughsmash (3082), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2007 On tap at Riverside. This came across as very similar to the Amber Ale, but at least I found that one to be decent. Clear medium amber pour with a dusting of white head and some sticky lacing. Heavier aroma was of very sweet caramel & candy with some floral notes. Dark caramel sugars and floral hoppage in the flavor.. became more bitter with warmth.. sweet, toasted caramel at the finish. Very sweet upfront with the building floral bitterness.. enjoyed the flow.. medium-bodied. keoki182 (304), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Dec 29, 2006 On tap at Riverside Brewery & Restaurant in West Bend, WI. Poured light red/tan, no head. Decent spicy nose. Awful flavor for an IPA. I’ve tried a good number of IPAs, and this was not even close to one. The prevailing taste was a sourness akin to their amber ale, I’m guessing it was the same caramel malts as in the amber. Pretty weak mouthfeel. I’m giving it bonus points though overall because it’s my hometown brewpub.
