Bottle. Pours a dark amber/copper with minimal white head. Aroma is strong hops, citrus and nice. Taste is hoppy, bitter with a lot of malt in the backbone. Hops are well represented, not overly done. Solid, somewhat boozy, nothing special but decent.

Amber pour with a white head. Aromas of citrus hops with notes of pine and flowers. Flavor is bitter hops upfront with not as many of the hop flavors so much as the hop bitterness. An alright brew but not nearly as complex as what I’ve come to expect from a DIPA.

Rated on 11-27-2011 (Bottle) When poured, this beer has a medium sized fizzy off-white head that mostly diminishes, mostly transparent/slightly hazy golden body, very fizzy, fast rising carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malt, some grain, pine, grapefruit, and fruity. The flavor is lightly bitter, grapefruit, citrus hops, and malt. The mouthfeel is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. The hops are upfront as they should be for the style, but they are over-the-top hoppy tasting. This beer is worth trying.

@ Jungle Jims / Eastgate OH --- Hazy dark amber, generous frothy white head, stringers of lace. Taste is caramel malt that stays steady through the palate until the swallow, where strong piney hops appear on the rebound. Strong, drinkable, not too heavy, a good standard strong IPA.

Pours a very dark amber almost clear brown color. Big malty aroma, caramel malts, toasty character, light resiny hop. Malty flavor as well, same resiny type hop character. Not sure how old this is, not offensive in any way just doesn’t seem fresh.

12 ounce bottle, pours a cooper color with aromas of sweet citrus, and some toffee. Flavors are the same citrus, toffee, and sweetness, ok beer overall would drink again.

Very sweet, lots of hops. Actually, this seems like a hoppy barleywine. So much sweet, heavy malt that it verges on cloying. It was actually kind of a chore to finish.

Natifest ’10

8/07/2010: Rivertown Hop Baron... Aroma: Sweet, complex citrus. Appearance: Mostly clear copper color; frothy beige head; tiny bubble lacing. Flavor: Smooth toffee maltiness with lots of citrus hoppiness piled on top; goes down easily; some alcohol venting; finishes bitter (like citrus peel/pithe); bitterness is moderate to relatively high. Palate: Medium-bodied; slightly syrupy and oily. Overall: Pretty good.

12 fl. oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #63 for this beer.

12 oz. Active body of clear amber-orange, with a lasting quarter inch of spongy head. Smells of fresh tangerine, pineapple and molasses. Tastes of pineapple, orange toffee, earthy leaf and vegetable, and lightly peppery wood. Medium-heavy body has a finely beaded carbonation. Finishes pithy dry and lightly astringent, but hides the abv well. I like the hop nose, but they seem a tad overdone in the flavor.
