COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per the bottle, "Unlike conventional ales and lagers which are fermented by carefully cultivated strains of brewers yeast, Ojos Negros is instead produced by exposing it to the wild yeasts and bacteria that are native to the Senne Valley, of Brussels Belgium. It is this unusual process involving over a year of fermentation, and over 130 pounds of Fresh Whole Blackberries which gives this beer its distinctive flavor: Semi sweet, vinous, fruity and cidery with a crisp tart aftertaste." According to one of the brewers, it is their Lambic (agen in oak wine barrels) with blackberries added.

750 ml bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a reddish/amber/purple color with a thin off white head. The aroma is tart, woody, acidic, raspberry and blackberry with some funk. The flavor is tart to sour berry, a big woody character, funk, mild acidity, touches of vinegar and dry wine. Pretty solid for the southern Ohio area.

[2011] Hazy violet color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of wood, blackberries, skins, bacteria. Taste of berries, pie, wood, and a sour finish.

Pours a beautiful rich amber with a very smaller white head. The aroma and flavor bring fruity lambic yeast and a beautiful tart profile on the tongue. It is not puckering, but the tartness is so smooth and crisp on the tongue. The berries have been muted a bit.

2011 22 oz. bottle via trade - Pours a hazy dirty orange color with very little head. No lacing. Aroma is light fruit. Flavor is slightly tart berries. Finish is dry and not too tart. Not as flavorful as some of the more popular lambics, but quite drinkable none the less.

Pours a reddish copper with a thin white head of foam. Aroma is all sourness. Dry sourness takes over in the taste and dries the beer out. The blackberry comes throughout nicely, but I think I could do with a little bit more.

T - Sour and tart blackberries, cherries, and other berries, oak, vanilla, wine, wheat, funky brett and other yeasts, lactic acid, lemon zest. M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Smooth with a tart, sour, and funky finish. D - Nice american wild ale. Good overall balance and complexity.

Pours lightly hazy reddish orange with a small off-white head. The aroma has tart lemon, blackberries, vanilla, oak, light funk, blue cheese and has a nice blend of tartness and smoothness. Medium / light crisp refreshing body that still has some lush smoothness and a mild amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with oaky woodiness, sharp lemon, sour blackberry, some wild bugs, bits of vinegar and blackberry pith. The finish is very dry, sour and rustic. Very nicely done sour/lambic for a U.S. brewery.

3/2/2013. Pours deep reddish with a thin pink head. Aroma is sour, tart, fruity, raspberries, acidic, vinegar. Smells like a sour to me. Taste is tart, acidic, dark berries, cherries, raspberries, vinegar, sweet, sour, fruit skin. Slightly astringent; this one will give your salivary glands a workout. Beautiful, tasty, flavorful. Rivertown does a great job with lambics.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is sour fruit and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel with sweet fruit malt and light sourness. A very good fruit lambic from Rivertown.
