COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per the bottle, "Unlike conventional ales and lagers which are fermented by carefully cultivated strains of brewers yeast, Ojos Negros is instead produced by exposing it to the wild yeasts and bacteria that are native to the Senne Valley, of Brussels Belgium. It is this unusual process involving over a year of fermentation, and over 130 pounds of Fresh Whole Blackberries which gives this beer its distinctive flavor: Semi sweet, vinous, fruity and cidery with a crisp tart aftertaste." According to one of the brewers, it is their Lambic (agen in oak wine barrels) with blackberries added.

22oz bottle pours out a hazy orangeish amber topped with a small head. Nose is tart berries funk and lots of barrel. Taste is more of the berries tartness and some vinegar.

Bottle share from Jeremy. Ruby/brown/orange pour, just a ring of head around the glass. Extremely sour aroma and taste, sharp and pungent.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2015 <edited after clearing up some label misunderstanding with the brewers> Anno 2013, 75cl.

Bottle at De Garde. Pours a bright reddish color with a medium white head. A big oaky fruity nose, some berries and apple. The flavor is funky oak, sour sharp fruit, tart berries. Ripe to overripe apples. Quite nice. Not the most drinkable thing, but good. Ends with a vinous berry note.

22oz bottle pours hazy pale purple red with small head. Nose is acidic berry funk, some grape, earthy wood, basement. Taste is a bit overly acidic at first with some nice funky wine grape and dark berry up front but a touch of sour burn on the back end. Wasn’t sure at first, but it opened up a bit with time and became enjoyable. Finish is sour acidic mashed blackberry and dark fruit with some wet wood.

750ml bottle shared at tasting. Grape juice filtered orange body. Nice steady, smooth sour tones. Quite nice, very tasty. Delicious, sort of exceeded my expectations in that the sour doesn’t come off unruly or infected. Delicious blackberry tones. Never overly thick, easy on the palate.

750 ml. 2013 vintage. Pours a murky chestnut color with a maroon tinge. A small film and ring of cream endures to the end. Big aroma of tart berries with some funk, merlot, oak, and touches of fig and brown sugar. Tastes are along the same lines, but sharper with the berries more noticeable and some hints of oxidation. Near-medium body is refreshing, thin and mildly astringent. Medium carbonation provides a pleasant little tingle without becoming annoying. I really like how this one lets the blackberries take the spotlight.

Bottle: 2012. Lighter, red-tinted copper & amber, mostly opaque with a slightly off-white head, quickly reduced to a collar. Sweaty oak aroma with mild horsey funk, slightly acidic raspberry (more so than blackberry, really) with some sweetness & a touch of lemon-lime. Relatively mild. Taste with moderately sweet & only lightly tart berry notes. Vague berry, again, almost more raspberry-ish than blackberry. Lots of wet oak, sweet lemon-lime, musty wet bales of hay. Tiny bit of tartness towards the finish, but far from "sour". Finishing sweet berries, sweaty oak, & dry hay. A good raspberry ale, but it needs a little more depth of flavors to be really great.
