Tasted on 7/5/13 from a capped bomber bottle purchased at Grand Cru. Pours an almost completely opaque dark brown with an average tan head that slowly recedes to messy lace. The nose is sour and funky with some red wine vinegar, natural cherry aroma, and plenty of milk chocolate and roasted chocolate malt. The flavor is more sour cherry than anything else with a nice vinous note, some barrel notes, and plenty of porter-like chocolate and roast. The body is medium with average, smooth carbonation and a long sour cherry and roasted finish.

From the February 2015 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy off white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was tart, sour and vaguely fruity. The flavor was very tart, sour, dry, chalky and had hints of vague fruits and vanilla. Long tart and sour finish. Medium body. Ok

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours murky and dark brown with a fleeting, off-white head. The nose is acidic and acetic offering fruity cherries, deeply roasted malts and enjoyable vinous notes. Full-bodied and thick with airy carbonation. The flavor is roasty, sour and vinous - red wine and red wine vinegar – with a heaping helping of black cherries. Thanks to my good friend, growler, for popping the top off this world-class beer!

Murky brown pour with a tan head. Nose is nice and tart with notes of cherry and chocolate. Tart in the flavor with cherry and some green apple skins. A little cocoa shows as well. Light bodied with a tart finish.

Bomber, 2013 vintage. Thanks Matt. Pours a dark brown with a very minimal head. Looks like a porter. Smell is sour and tart. That was unexpected. My one knock is is there is a touch of astringent on the back end of the aroma. Kind of unpleasant. Otherwise this beer is damn good. Taste is acidic sour. Tart cherries. If I was blindfolded I would swear it tasted like a kriek. Looks like a porter. Tastes like a wild/sour. Interesting beer.

22 oz bottle gifted by phaleslu. Thanksn buddy. A want list entry for awhile. Pours a murky darker opaque brownish hue, a gentle tinge of ruby brown glow. Mellow carbonation, small frothy tannish head atop dies to a mellow ring, small lacing. Aromas provide nice play between oak and biscuit, mellow roast meets some black cherry, yogurt and lemon. Touches of Lacto bite a bit firmly, cherryskin and seedy tart cherries meet some gentle plum, dark fruit and a nice bit of sourness mixing well with oak, touches of vanillin and bourbon elements. Solid, nothing seems overdone. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a bit lighter with some biting sourness up front. Yogurty lacto, cherries and a bit of sharpness show cherryskin, sourness and a bit of wood. Middle shows some more of those Bourbon elements, vanilla and toastiness, some biscuit and deadened sweeter malts from the time on souring bacteria seems to have eaten through a firmer base, gentle touches of cocoa, earth and subtle carmelized malts sneak in and mix with that oaky life. Backend is a bit sour and sharp, gentle sweeter cherries grow a bit more back here, some stone fruit, plum and black cherry with a bit of currant. Finish is a bit dry, lingering fuzzy Lacto and mellow oak, touches of vanilla and cherry as this one finishess with some odes to the base beer, gentle bit of darker sweetness beneath. This beer seems to hit all the notes you’d expect, presenting a pleasant sourness without being overwhelming or overdone, perhaps a touch warm with some ABV and spirit notes into the back where more barrel shows beyond the sourness. Overall, it definitely goes through the motions and offers a coherent experience albeit not necessarily as bright or loud as some may like. A nicely done beer for a style/end goal that can get messy well before the finish.

Bottle from a trade in Cincy. Shared with Dan, Danni, and Josh at my place. Snifters. Pours a very dark brown with a moderate light brown head that was short lived. The aroma was delightful with sour cherry notes, chocolate, dark fruits, and oak barrel. The taste (once warmed) was very nice with sour cherries, currants, raspberries, dark chocolate, and barrel. Delicate mouth, somewhat of a velvety finish. Somewhat tart, but not like Tart of Darkness.

Had this thanks to my boy Prazak. Color is brown with some red tones. Not much of a head. The name does not lie. Very sour and lots of cherries in the aroma and taste. Bourbon is light but a great overall sour.

UPDATED: NOV 5, 2014 The aroma is sour and lactic with some malt and fruit. The appearance is brown with no head. The taste is like expected. The palate is flat and thin. Overall not good.
