Bottle. Really great. Dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is mocha and roasted vanilla. Taste is coffee and chocolate. Good stuff.

Pours a very dark brown with a creamy, tan head. Poor head retention. Cigarette smoke, roasted marhamallow, and a pizza place, hard plastic cup nose. Just peculiar. Somewhat creamy and mildly tingly mouthfeel. Ashtray smoky flavor combined with a distinctly separate sweet marhamallow and dark fruit. There’s a bit more than just a note of plastic as well.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2014 Smooth and chocolatey. Toasted marshmallow aroma. Sweet with a small amount of hoppiness.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, light espresso, and a hint of molasses. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring around the edges of the glass. There is some minimal webbing left behind for lacing. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate and a touch of roast. The finish has light-moderate vanilla with a touch of espresso. It’s light-medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation. The mouthfeel is a little thin. Overall, a really nice Imperial Porter.

Tap at Publicity Nashville: strong nose of cocoa; great lacing; taste of dark chocolate. A beer brownie for sure. A stellar chocolate porter! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This one poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of roasted malt, chocolate, cherries, and light smoke. Flavor was smokey chocolate, and silky smooth. Pretty nice.

Very good porter. Drinking it along with some artichoke, red pepper pizza and I regret absolutely nothing. 10/10 would drink this again! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle from East End Liquors, Knoxville. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized fizzy brown head that fades in a hurry. Aroma of brownie batter, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, faint bit of roast. The taste is coffee, chocolate, vanilla, brownie batter, mild notes of nuts, roast, hops. Thin bodied, high carbonation, faintest hit of booze. Really nice, could be world class with some refinement.

Good tasting porter. Sweet nutty and malty taste and aroma. Good look and great taste. Not too smoky. That always turns me away from a porter.

From bottle sample at 2014 Price Hill Beer Fest, tasted on February 16, 2014. Almost opaque brown/ruby color, really nice malty/vanilla/coffee/malty nose, fine complex taste with flavors like the aroma. About time I tried this great local brew. Even better than its good reputation. The best of Rivertown’s regular year round offerings.
