From bottle sample at 2014 Price Hill Beer Fest, tasted on February 16, 2014. Almost opaque brown/ruby color, really nice malty/vanilla/coffee/malty nose, fine complex taste with flavors like the aroma. About time I tried this great local brew. Even better than its good reputation. The best of Rivertown’s regular year round offerings.

taster @ tailspin beer fest. poured a dark brown color. the aroma was very good, notes of chocolate and coffee and roasted malts typical for a porter but just seemed a bit intense. the flavor was mostly chocolate and roasted malts. with hints of coffee. my thoughts are this is a pretty good porter now does it belong in the strong porter/imperial I don’t really know. was pretty solid.

Bottle in hotel room orlando... Deep black... Thinest tan lacing... Dark chocolate roast... Soft vanilla roast nose... Over fizzy... Dark rich sweet chocolate... Bit too much vanilla... But nice

12 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter. Pours clear reddish-brown but looks nearly black in the glass. Aroma: vanilla, dark roasted malts and hints of smoke and dark chocolate. The flavor is a bit sweet, and probably seems more so due to the ample use of vanilla, but there is a clear if mild bitterness too, and some coffee in the finish and aftertaste. O: well crafted and tasty but not as robust as an "Imperial Robust Porter" should be.

Great chocolate & coffee taste with a nice aroma, a terrific porter. Pores with a lacy foam that lasts for a while and then leaves a consistent foam ring on the glass as you drink. Hard to find in Cincinnati, which should tell you something.

Pours a dark brown, thin amount of tan foam, dissipates rapidly. Aroma of roasted malts and vanilla. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, and a bit of molasses. Just a tad cloying and tart on the finish, which detracted from it somewhat.

@ Party Source / Bellvue - Clear, very dark ruby amber, rim head, no lace. Taste is toasted caramel malt that adds malty coffee midway through the palate. Coffee turns bitter (black coffee) and moves smoothly through the finish, lingering well as more malt reappears. Coffee (and chocolate) are present, but not cloying as so often happens with porters/stouts. Surprisingly well balanced and satisfying, one of Rivertown’s best. Recommended.

Bottle shared by Travlr. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy and bubbly beige head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is chocolate, light toast and nutty malt with plums and figs, and light earthy hops. Flavor is moderate chocolate, dark malt, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation.
