Nitro draft to pint at Rivertown (from notes). Let me start out by saying that the draft version (which is always run on nitro) is a completely different - and FAR better - beer than the bottled version. Looks good; nitro reaction that turns black with creamy head as it settles. Smells solid; coffee, malt, and chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only better, and with a hint of vanilla in there. Good on the palate too. While I’m not a fan of the bottled version, this version is great!

UPDATED: APR 24, 2013 Nice porter. Easy to drink. Alcahol hidden well. I would’ve guessed 5.5% as opposed 7.8%. Light coffee and choc taste. Faint vanilla. Overall well balanced with a lot of different flavors going on.

Light for an imperial porter. Light roast and coffee. Some raw vanilla flavor. Dry. Not sweet at all. Kind of has a dank leftover coffee mug or pot aroma to it. Doesn’t smell fresh. Not so great. Refreshing though. Not heavy. Worth trying.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Notes of chocolate, sweet coffee, sour. This beer is off, maybe oxidized.

Thanks to drowland for this.Pours a deep dark brown fading to black, light off-white head. Aroma has some nice earthy black topsoil essence to it, with a touch of licorice. Flavor has some coffee, a hint of licorice, some earthy black dirt essence. Mouthfeel is slightly dry and chalky which is nice. Best of the bunch from Rivertown that drowland shared with me - but still has a touch of that butterscotch noted in their other beers - just mixes in well in this case. .

6/23/12. 12oz bottle. Light brown pour with plenty of reds under a small tan head. Light caramel and chocolate in the aroma with bits of coffee and ash. Bolder, slightly sweeter flavor that screams milk chocolate with touches of coffee and breakfast cereal. Oddly high, bubbly carbonation. Interesting.

Clearly a hybrid within the style. Perfect balance of vanilla, coffee, and roasted malt? Most beers that attempt this, e.g., breckenridge vanilla porter, miss the boat by over-emphasizing one of the three flavors (vanilla in that case, leaving a medicinal and unbalanced taste). This beer melds them perfectly. Awesome!

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, thanks Amy! Dark brownish black pour with creamy tan head, aroma has notes of cola, dark fruits, chocolate, cocoa, biscuit, metallic notes. Taste is sour grain, cocoa, acidic coffee, toffee, cola, dark chocolate, finishing fairly bitter, but fairly sweet as well from the cane sugar.

At the brewery, nice aroma that stands forth. Chocolate vanilla. Very enjoyable a pretty unique beer. For the Alchol content good body and flavor. Has a nice head and flavor. Pretty amazing beer.
