COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(From the label) "Ville De Rivere Geuze is a wonderful blend of one year old and three year old sour lambic beer. Following the blend the beer is allowed to mature in the bottle for up to six months. The result is a beautifully well rounded ale: Dry, cidery, musty, vinous, and sour."

Pours a pale golden yellow with almost no head. Aroma is great , lemony, funky,a bit of must. taste is the same, lemons and funk with a nice tart finish that’s refreshing . The only problem with this brew is the palate, its pretty much flat, needs way more carbonation, i don’t know if it was this bottle or what. ill grab it again if i can and re-rate

Bottle at James’s 4k/5k/10k tasting. Pours a hazed gold with a thin white head. Big sour acid and a bit of wood funk on the nose. Big gentle acid, warm light vinegar notes, soft oak. Tart and subtle, wood into the finish. Lovely.

Bottle @ a recent tasting... Poured hazy golden/yellow with a thin forming, wispy white head. Citrus and funk dominated this one. Not as intense as many as its Belgian older siblings out there. Still nice to see an American brewery putting something like this out. Funk, musk, acidic tartness some vinous tones and wood.

Bottle shared at a weekly tasting, poured a light cliudy yellow xolor with aromas of light lemons, some dust, earth and some light funk. Flavors follow suit, light and crisp on palate, light lemons in aftertaste, a solid beer.

Hazy yellow pour, nice sized white head. dusty, lemony, funky, earthy, leather, yeast, light oak flavors. Cool beer from a brewery I really like.

One of the few American geuzes. Whether it is traditional or not it is a nice sour. Some nice lactic tartness, malt sweetness, hay, funk.

Bottle generously shared by cbkschubert @ Woodshed 2.0! Light 10 karat pour with ample carbonation which produced a thin ivory film. Tart lemon zest, vinegar, and citric acid along with mild peppery spice and funk. Really solid brew from a brewery I hadn’t explored! Thanks Craig!

Porsche a translucent straw color with a thin white head of foam. The aroma is supremely tart with some nice wheaty notes. Taste is a little one dimensional in its tartness, but it nice stuff.

Hazy golden-yellow body, thin white head, minimal lacing. Funk, must lemon, wet hay, a little acetic creeps in, some lactic tartness in the finish. Medium to light bodied, undercarbonated, moderate acidity.

This was going to be bland yet somehow I bought it anyways hoping for the best. I should have known better. Very seldom does Rivertown exceed expectations and yet I find myself saying "maybe this is the one." For some reason I already know it will happen again. Buy if you want to tick sours; otherwise save your money for something better.

Aroma / Appearance - The minimal carbonation is expected for the style. A radiant orange base looks lazy and uninspired. The cheesy orange nose is not sour at all; in fact it could be mistaken for a berliner weisse with syrup in other circumstances.

Flavor / Palate - Orange rinds and cheesecake are respectable but bland. Flat with only a trace sourness this is a gueuze in name only. Plenty of American sours have more punch without even trying. Overall a less than special release from a brewery who needs to focus on other styles.
