COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(From the label) "Ville De Rivere Geuze is a wonderful blend of one year old and three year old sour lambic beer. Following the blend the beer is allowed to mature in the bottle for up to six months. The result is a beautifully well rounded ale: Dry, cidery, musty, vinous, and sour."

Pours a pale golden yellow with almost no head. Aroma is great , lemony, funky,a bit of must. taste is the same, lemons and funk with a nice tart finish that’s refreshing . The only problem with this brew is the palate, its pretty much flat, needs way more carbonation, i don’t know if it was this bottle or what. ill grab it again if i can and re-rate

22 oz. bottle, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Nose is fairly funky, with light citrus and farmhouse notes. Flavour brings out citric notes, moderate acidity, and very light funk. Finishes on acidic, vinous notes. Certainly not like an authentic gueuze by any means, but pretty nice sour.

bottle shared by tom10101, many thanks! pours hazy bright golden with a low head offering poor retention and lacing. bretty and peppery, dill, no funk per say - pretty far from a geuze in my sense, oaky - bourbon mostly, lightly doughy maltiness, light acidity - lactic but also acetic, pepper. light carbonation - could be brighter, light body - particularly oily, tart lightly acetic finish. still.. tasty american sour.

Pours a clear golden with a small rim that leaves some lacing. Nose is slightly buttery but mostly of caramel and fruits. Taste is of yellow fruits, moderately tart and lightly acetic (but way less than your usual american sour). Body is medium and carbonation too. A good american sour.

Bottle (22 oz). From Eric, thanks! Clear golden with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma is dominated by buttery oak and vanilla, but after breathing a little there’s also some sour notes, light spiciness and musty notes. Taste is also quite oak (buttery oak), vanilla, moderate sourness, more spices than in the aroma but not enough to be disturbing and grains. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Woodsy finish. Lack of depth and real funk. We are definitely in American Wild Ale territory... no gueuze to see here. Still, it’s not bad for what it is.

Bottle. Clear gold pour with ring of white head. Aroma is buttery, oaky, light grainy notes, very light farmyard funk. Taste is grainy, light funk grassy notes. Palate is light bodied, med carbonation. Good, but I don’t think it’s a gueuze.

Beer Bloggers Conference - San Diego - Big aroma and flavor. Lots of cider like favors and finish. Terrific blending. Light must flavors lots of barrel aging.

Poured into a tulip out of a 750ml bottle. 2011 vintage. Pours a clear deep gold with tiny, minimal carbonation but enough to leave a small fizzy head. Just a few spots of lacing but it is passable. Aroma is quite vinous and almost stings the nostrils. Strong notes of barnyard and horse blanket along with a touch of wet hay. Some woody notes and a touch of grape must. The flavor closely follows the aroma up front. Strong hay and barnyard and very vinous. However the further you get into the drink, the more subtleties begin to show themselves. The wine barrel aging becomes evident with light notes of wood and some grape. A sweet shot of peach comes through that is quickly zapped by a drying, clean finish. Tartness is kept in check but is enough to cleanse the palate as it should. Overall, this beer is an underrated gem. I never had a fresh sample but I have to believe 3-4 years is the sweet spot. There is incredible depth and one would never guess this beer came from a brewery in an industrial park north of Cincinnati. This is up there with many Belgian examples of the style. Absolutely outstanding.
