Rivertowne Highland Heather Scotch Ale (Barrel Aged)

On cask at Piper’s Pub. Graham crackers, toasted malt, oak barrel and champagne caves, light wine and grape juice aroma. Mild alcohol notes. Light floral hops. A terrific nose on this. Dark coppery amber clear with thin off-white lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with cask carbonation. Starts sweet and rich, malty with lots of oak, caramel, vanilla, and toasted grain. Light tang with a hint of woody bitterness. A bit too sweet for drinking a lot, but with dinner it’s terrific. Almost seems like a bit of cranberry flavor, astringency.
