Pours a deep amber that you can see through if you hold it up to the light. Not much in the way of aroma, but there are obviously some different malts going on. Starts out with a sweet caramel flavor with just a hint of smoke and wood at the finish. Almost no hop presence, as it should be. Good balance.
Smooth, good flavor. Quite nice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a dark ruby color with an off-white head of foam. Good retention. The aroma is mildly nutty and roasty with some caramel sweetness and doughy bread notes coming through. There’s a touch of smoke in there too. Taste is earthy sweet. Nicely balanced. Moderate carbonation. Decent beer.

On tap. Pours a dark brown almost purple color with a small white head. A nice light nose of chocolate and berries. The flavor is pretty good, smoked malts, some dark toffee, fruit. Solid brew.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Can. Pours a clear dark amber body under a small wispy off-white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is husky and toasty with some minimal floral hops. The flavor is a bit too sweet for the style, lots of husky and caramel malt with some very light hops. Light bodied and a big clingy with minimal soft carbonation. Pretty boring stuff.

Aroma: Lots of moldy basement aromas--pretty unappealing.
Appearance: Dark brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly.
Taste: Light sweetness straight throughout. Little depth.
Palate: Medium body, slick texture, flat carbonation, sweet finish.
Overall: Meh...a bit too malty for my taste, but drinkable. I certainly wouldn’t seek this out anytime soon.

12 oz can purchased at Piccolo Wine Shop in Sandusky, Ohio. Pours dark reddish color with light tan head. Clear Aromas of caramel and toasted malts. Seems a bit bready with an underwhelmed malt flavor. Not bad, but probably won't get more.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
The aroma is malty but very little else. The appearance is brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma and like a homebrew. The palate is thin for the style. Overall not that good.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A standard Scottish ale with high amount of malt with nutty flavor and slightly toasty flavor. Hardly any hop bitterness. It's tasty for a high malty session.
