In honor of our friend and mascot, Wylie the fish, we are hooking you up with an aggressively hopped India Pale, the staple for any fishing trip. This beer is a hop lover’s dream. Andrew Maxwell put over 1.5 decades of recipe development into this India Pale Ale, creating the fourth dimension of flavor. Combining four varieties of hops produces a unique beer that has an aggressive hop flavor, bite and aroma without denying the presence of malt which I.P.A.s often lack.

12 oz. can from Santa. Pours a clear dark golden/amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have a big malt character up front, caramel, light toast, with some orange and grapefruit citrus, some herbal tea, hops seem a bit faded, just ok.

Pours translucent orange-amber into the glass with a wispy head that leaves ring lacing. The nose is of caramel and oranges. Flavors are citrusy (bright), grassiness, caramel and a grassy, lightly peppering bitter finish. The mouthfeel is semi-active and the palate is semi-juicy. Goes down well with a medium body. What it lacks in complexity, it slightly redeems itself in drinkability, especially in the hot summer months.

Canned. No clear date. Pours honey golden, off-white head, pillowy. Aroma is malt forward, caramel notes, light orange, pineapple, lemon citrus notes, bready notes. Flavor is actually fairly hop forward, definite bite. Caramel malt, fairly bready middle of the mouth, slight hop finish. Ok.

This is a great session IPA, brings a nice malt flavor with a touch caramel and a bitter hops that is not overpowering nor too potent, for a casual drinker ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Malts in the front, hops in the back. Chewy & round. Toffee with a swirl of kale bitterness. Thin & watery. Metallic around the edges. Hops seem disinterested at best. Thought I’d have something more to say.

Appearance is amber. Aroma is hoppy. Taste is earthy hops and spice. Overall a decently balanced IPA.

Pours an orange golden color with off-white head. Citrus and malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Not an overly complex IPA, with a balanced malt bill on the backbone, more than I like in an IPA. No bite at the end.

Can to shaker glass. Pours clear amber orange, two finger off white head. Good lacing, acceptable retention. Aroma of citrus, pine and caramel. Taste is rather sweet for an IPA, medium bitterness. Light bodied, lively carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Finishes bittersweet. Tasting notes of tangerine, mango, spruce, toffee, grass and herbs. Average but very drinkable.

Enjoyable IPA overall. Really good looking brew with nice color and a good forming head. Ok aroma but not enough sweet hop smell. Good tasting and not much left to the palate. Enjoy.

Can. Nose of caramel and medium pine, dough with light spice, muted citrus. Pours orange, transparent with a touch of haze, rocky creamy beige head. Taste sweet (probably too sweet) with medium bitterness, and in that contest, the sweetness wins. Light resin under the caramel, very woody with little citrus, medium body thins out and flattens at times, very faint warming. Dough, somewhat smooth, heavy. Overall, has attractive points, don’t like enough to buy a case..
