COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In honor of our friend and mascot, Wylie the fish, we are hooking you up with an aggressively hopped India Pale, the staple for any fishing trip. This beer is a hop lover’s dream. Andrew Maxwell put over 1.5 decades of recipe development into this India Pale Ale, creating the fourth dimension of flavor. Combining four varieties of hops produces a unique beer that has an aggressive hop flavor, bite and aroma without denying the presence of malt which I.P.A.s often lack.

Can to snifter. Looks solid; a transparent orange with thin eggshell lacing. Smells of bitter hops with what appears to be some light oxidization (which doesn’t make much sense coming from a can). Tastes like it smells, but with pale malt in place of the oxidization. Average on the palate; on the thinner side for the style. A forgettable example of the style.

12oz can, shared. Clear amber color. Thin white head. Little, sort of bubbly head, couple bits of lace. I dig the Warhol-style can. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Earthy hop, lightly spicy. Good malt balance to this. Toasty malt, light caramel, lightly spicy malt. Some grapefruit. Light to moderate sweet taste. Moderate to bigger bitter. Bigger malt profile than your typical IPA, but not malty-sweet. It’s seems malty in an intentional way, taste is more bitter forward still. Very unique stuff, I like it quite a bit... A good change of pace from your typical every day dime-a-dozen IPA, this one has some thought and courage behind it, courage to do something different..

Another random note from my spring training baseball trip. Not really sure what this means, but I drank it at some point: Malty bitter. sharp. dry. bready. Little harsh, little ok. 7.2

Can. Taste is straightforward, standard IPA. Mild taste of citrus, pine and dough. Very smooth. Decent.

Can at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, from Wegmans Downington, 23/01/14. Lightly hazed orange amber with a moderate off white head that dissipates to a pond. Nose is bitter orange, straw, toasted malts, lemon rind, grass. Taste comprises orange pith, light hoppage, toasted malt, faint red grapefruit. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry grass laden bitterness in the closure. So so entry level IPA.

Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Thanks Colin. Light haze on this deep gold beer. Decent pale cream coloured head. Palate is airy and minerally crisp. Caramel malt with a slight oxidised flavour. Light piney hops. Little hop spice. Semi.dry finish with a bitter linger.

Poured an orange color with aromas of biscuit malt, light pine and citrus. Flat or are the light dough with some pineapple Nd pine. Flavors were watered down a little nit. Bonus points for being in a can.

Very light hop aroma, pours a clear amber with a full white head. This is a maltier take on the IPA style then I generally prefer, there’s some hop presence there, but not a lot of bite. It’s not a bad beer, but I would class it more of a Pale Ale then an IPA.

Hazy orange body, large off-white head, soapy lacing. Grapefruit, pine, too much biscuity malt. Medium bodied, appropriate carbonation, too sweet for my liking.

Can to glass. Pours a medium amber/gold with a lacy white head. Aromas of light pine, some light cramel, and a bit of floral hop notes. The flavor is somewhat subdued and mild. Light malts and some hop notes come through.....eh decent but better stuff out there.
