750 ml bottle from brogue ha ha. Very dark brown with a creamy light brown head that leaves a nice moustache throughout. Roasted malts, lactose, chocolate, light coffee, some wheat but not much yeast. Moderate+ body with a smooth and creamy mouth feel, mild carbonation, semi sweet but then the hops take over and you end up.with a somewhat bitter chocolate cream taste with a bit of.alcohol and coffee. Not too bad.

Aroma strength is weak with chocolate, coffee, notes of meat and smoke. Visual is black, opaque with a thick rocky head, very long lasting and bi colored brown and beige. Nice lacing but doesn’t stick very long. Taste has a lot of coffee, a lot of roast bitterness. Also notes of pepper and smoke. Sparkling is very fizzy and bitterness very strong. Mouth feel is also very thin for an imperial stout. Not a lot of body. Flavors are not elaborate. A bit deceiving.

Bouteille 750ml. De couleur noire et opaque. Nez de malt rôti, de chocolat noir, de café, léger de houblon herbeux avec des petites notes de chocolat au lait. Moyenne-ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen ainsi qu’une texture moyennement huileuse et légèrement crémeuse. Goût de chocolat noir amer (et procurant de faibles notes acides) avec des petites traces épicées (poivre) dès l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un goût de malt assez rôti et aux notes brûlées avec des notes de mélasse puis progressivement, un goût de café noir ainsi qu’une amertume de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses viennent se rajouter jusqu’en finale, où l’on y détecte un léger goût d’alcool et quelques traces de fumée de bois. Post-goût long et un peu sec, amer de rôti (notes brûlées), de chocolat noir, moyen de café et de houblon herbeux avec des petites notes d’alcool.

Single big bottle from the IGA in Gatineau. Pours a very dark brown colour with hardly any red highlights. The huge head is brown, frothy, lasts a while and creates foamy lace. Chocolate nose with roasted malts, grass and some hints of berries and vanilla. No burning, but a nice warming mouthfeel with a little creaminess. The hop seems to take over in the taste, over the roasted malt with coffee notes. The burnt malt lingers though. Recommended for those who prefer a hoppier imperial stout.

Chocolat noir aqu nez, noir d’encre. Bonne torréfaction avec pointe d’amertume et de sucre. Une solide expérience.

d une noir opaque avec mousse couleur moka. on ressent des arome de chocolat moir avec point de torrification .en bouche le chocolat noir et tres present avec un peu de torrification mais en fin on une amertume qui pouch beaucoup j ai un petit moins aimer pour imperial stout (rate 62)

750 ml bottle. Pours pitch black with a resilient beige-brown head. Smell is chocolate cake, vanilla coffee and herbs. Taste is dark malts, light chocolate, mocha coffee. Some very sharp bitterness, roasted malt, herbs ; totally kills off all the sugars from the beginning. Very bitter. Medium to strong body, creamy mouthfeel. Average carbonation. Hard to find the belgian dubbel in this, but it tastes good. Would definitely benefit from less hops, but it was still quite decent.

Bouteille de 750ml bouchon de liège. Bière noire avec une mousse brune collante au parois. Le nez est de torréfaction, chocolat amer. Jusqu’ici tout va bien, c’est en bouche que ça se gâte. Il y a trop de gaz carbonique, c’est piquant, l’amertume est transporté par le gaz et gâche le finit. La texture est huileuse. La finale est sur une amertume désagréable. 5/10

Au service, la bière est noire, opaque, tellement dense qu’on a l’impression de se servir un verre de pétrole. Arôme de grains brûlés, goût de café très torréfié. Elle supporte bien ses 9% d’alcool. Bien agréable.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, smooth dark chocolate with grassy notes, choco-bar. In mouth, nice milk chocolate with herbal notes, nice and smooth, alcohol warmth. Tasted Dec. 15 2012.
