3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 HeistAlmighty (472) - Saint John, New Brunswick, CANADA - JAN 13, 2012
341ml bottle. Poured copper with a small beige head. Aroma is mostly toffee and a little dark fruit and alcohol. Taste more toffee and fruit. It was kind of odd as the flavours were very much like some stronger doppels I’ve had, including the strong taste of alcohol, but this one was somewhat lower in ABV. Despite the taste of alcohol there was no burn. Body was strangely light, but not thin.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 VincentL (121) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 11, 2011

341mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a clear amber with a tiny white head. Aroma has some really good burnt toffee, toasty caramalt character that I love about Dopplebocks. Flavour doesn’t let down with that same bocky aspect I described so eloquently above, with residual sweetness and minor peat, or something like that. Palate is ligher than I would want in a really satisfying Doppel, and in that way this reminds me of the modern day Salvator. There’s really not much wrong with this one, just that it’s a mild example of an underappreciated style. I would drink this again, it was well priced.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 pushkinwow (739) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 15, 2011
341ml bottle. Amber with a light tan head. Not much aroma - bit of malt, corn puffs, bread and caramel. Sweet, carbonated, get some spice and booze on the finish and a bit of anise. Ok but not great.

Deep amber brown pour. The aroma is fairly caramelized and chewy. A little bit of peppery spiciness and a fairly light cocoaish contribution as well. A little bit of fairly light pepper along with some burnt sugar. A little kiss of sweetness on the back. The mouthfeel is a bit light. Simple for the style, but it hits most of the right notes - if not in exactly the right ways.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - MAY 25, 2011
Originally rated July 2008. Thanks to Driss for bringing this one back from Quebec City. Pours a clear amber colour with a slightly creamy beige head, that is not too small, and not too big, but stays a little while, and leaves no lacing. Beautiful aromas of sweet malt, caramel and bread. Medium-bodied with no alcohol burn. The taste is pretty well-balanced, with mild bitterness, sweet caramel malt and the bread. I kind of like this one.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 tielord (42) - Quebec, CANADA - APR 3, 2011
341 ml bottle, 7.6%. Reddish brown color with not much of an head, with practically no foam, very small effervescence. Subtle aroma of toffee. Taste of malt with very little aftertaste and a pretty thin body . A disappointing beer, not for my tastes.
