Belle couleur cuivré avec beau col de mousse. Gout sucré caramelisé en bouche avec finale tout en douceur. L’ alcool se fait plutot discret. Tres bonne petite biere...Sylvie!!!

Aucun Américain n’a encore évalué cette bière sur ce site. Je ne vais quand même pas écrire en anglais pour des Canadiens-Anglais, il y a des limites à tout... Hi! Hi! Alors que j’écris ces lignes, le percentile est 37... C’est beaucoup trop bas, ça ne réflète pas du tout la qualité de cette bière! Bon, je vis au Québec et je n’ai jamais mis les pieds en Europe. Donc je n’ai pas bu souvent des doppelbocks... Et ça m’enrage, parce que si c’était du protectionnisme, on paierait plein de taxes pour des bières importées, mais au moins on pourrait y avoir accès! Là, c’est de l’hyper-protectionnisme et c’est d’la m... Enfin, cette bière est délicieusement caramélisée, moyennement amère et houblonnée, et l’alcool n’est que très peu perceptible. Arôme très intéressant et invitant... Encore, surtout à 2,49$ la bouteille! Bravo à Brasseurs R.J., mais changez l’étiquette et, peut-être, de responsable du marketing... Cette bière devrait être mise en valeur!

Originally rated July 2008. Thanks to Driss for bringing this one back from Quebec City. Pours a clear amber colour with a slightly creamy beige head, that is not too small, and not too big, but stays a little while, and leaves no lacing. Beautiful aromas of sweet malt, caramel and bread. Medium-bodied with no alcohol burn. The taste is pretty well-balanced, with mild bitterness, sweet caramel malt and the bread. I kind of like this one.

Aroma: sweet malty with hint of brown sugars, light fruity aromatic hints. Notes of prunes and peach. Low alcohol found. 7-
Appearance: handsome pour of garnet ruby. Large of white fine top. Some lace shown.
Body , Flavour , Palate and Final Notes: full bodied. Plenty of slightly tart plum and prunes. Quiet fruit with slight alcoholic warmth. Clean execution of stronger dark bock. Slight wet raw leafy hop on top end. Proper brewing.

341mL bottle from Broue Ha Ha. Pours a clear amber with a tiny white head. Aroma has some really good burnt toffee, toasty caramalt character that I love about Dopplebocks. Flavour doesn’t let down with that same bocky aspect I described so eloquently above, with residual sweetness and minor peat, or something like that. Palate is ligher than I would want in a really satisfying Doppel, and in that way this reminds me of the modern day Salvator. There’s really not much wrong with this one, just that it’s a mild example of an underappreciated style. I would drink this again, it was well priced.

Brown bottle, 341 ml, purchased at Le Grand Duc on May 18 2008, savoured on May 27 2008; eye: copper with a reddish hue, clear, light effervescence, tan head that falls rapidly, light lacing; nose: malt, light roasting, light caramel, light ash; mouth: malt, caramelized malt, caramel, light hops, brown sugar, finale in caramelized malt with a hint of hops, rather carbonated, mildly sweet, slightly bitter, medium body, slightly oily texture; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, achetée chez Le Grand Duc le 18 mai 2008, savourée le 27 mai 2008; œil : cuivrée avec une teinte rougeâtre, claire, légère effervescence, mousse fauve abondante mais qui tombe assez rapidement, légère dentelle; nez : malt, légère torréfaction, léger caramel, léger cendré; bouche : malt, malt caramélisé, caramel, léger houblon, cassonade, finale en malt caramélisé avec une pointe de houblon, plutôt carbonatée, moyennement sucrée, très légèrement amère, corps moyen, texture légèrement huileuse; en résumé : correct

Bottle: medium to dark copper pour, next to no head. Large aroma of caramel malt, a touch of alcohol, and some grains. Flavour is very malty, butnot sweet. Its more of a grainy malt, with a good caramel note in the finish. NOt a bad beer really, from the ratings i would say its underrated.
