french tickler (505), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada Apr 13, 2008 Shared with Pyrozoid. Dark cognac poor with a small white head. Aromas of maple syrup, brown sugar, nuts, vanilla, cherries and some herbal hops. Medium body, creamy, slightly salty, good bitterness longlasting but missing a little je ne sais quoi. Flavors are mostly the same as the aromas added a little alcohol. Meh...
Flamojune (46), Québec, Quebec, Canada Sep 26, 2008 Belle couleur cuivré avec beau col de mousse. Gout sucré caramelisé en bouche avec finale tout en douceur. L’ alcool se fait plutot discret. Tres bonne petite biere...Sylvie!!! Eructoblaster (1269), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Sep 17, 2008 Bottle - 341ml. Dark copper body with average carbonation and a fair beige frothy head. Exhales a decent malty/hoppy aroma with brown sugar hints. Taste lacks punch and complexity. It ends with a short bittersweet finish. Not a great Doppelbock. rodenbach99 (444), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Jun 21, 2008 bouteille de 341ml. de retour après des années d’absence, à l’époque elle se disait bière de garde.. bonne bière brune, bon goût de malt. robinvboyer (1055), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 6, 2008 Bottle: medium to dark copper pour, next to no head. Large aroma of caramel malt, a touch of alcohol, and some grains. Flavour is very malty, butnot sweet. Its more of a grainy malt, with a good caramel note in the finish. NOt a bad beer really, from the ratings i would say its underrated. Boutip (1815), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 2, 2008 Bottle: Poured a clear medium copper color bock with an average size foamy head with average retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet malt is somewhat interesting but no signs of banana or cloves could be detected as I would have expected from a doppelbock. Taste is also dominated by some sweet malt notes and not much else. Body is a bit thin for the style with some average carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I remember really enjoying this beer years ago but this a pale shadow of its former self.
