A beer with a complex taste brewed from three types of malt and fine hops following an in-house recipe. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast-enriched flavor.

750 ml bottle bought at at Les Marchants de la Bière in Sainte-Thérèse (Quebec) on July 9, 2014. Murky dark brown, small head. Spicy red fruit aroma, light molasses notes. Toast with jam taste, some spiciness but mostly dry mineral notes, somewhat dry aftertaste. Like MartinT noted back in 2002, it’s not a disaster!

This ale poured a deep dark amber colour with a small but fizzy brown head. Slightly cloudy. Scents include light caramel and malt. Not overly fragrant. First swig was smooth and a little watery with flavours of malt and brown sugar. A little spice. Finish is medium sweet with malt flavour lingering forever.

(1043-050414)

(bottle) clear rich reddish amber colour with a small brown head; aromas of spice, wheat; dry, rich flavour with a long medium bitter finish; quite interesting - bold flavour, like a mixture of belgian ale and wheat beer

Bottle. Pours a dark ruby colour, witha thin off white head and a touch of lace. Nose is yeasty and rather unpleasant. Tastes Belgian like, sweet malty, biscuity and a bit off.

341ml bottle. Pours a murky garnet with floaters, and a tan head. Aroma has very heavy prune/date notes, dark sugars, spice, a light fruity note, and bread. The taste isn’t much different. Big dried fruits up front, dark maple syrup, demerara sugar, a very boozy streak (the alcohol is definitely not hidden well) clove, overripe fruit, and a decent amount of bitter to keep the sweetness in check. Not the most elegant Belgian strong in the world, but it’s decent.
