UPDATED: DEC 24, 2013 Bottle from Total Wine & More in McLean, VA. Murky brown pour with a little sediment. Small white head. Palate is a little thin, and the flavor features a bit of artificial tasting chocolate. Not a great beer.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz bottle - brown with a giant tan head. The bottle fizzed over when I opened it. Chocolate aromas and flavor. Very sweet. No bitterness. OK, but too sweet for my tastes.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
this beer had a red-brown pour with a bunch of particles and made a light tan colored two finger head that receded to a thin cover and somewhat sticky ring, the glass had generous carbonation, a good center stream and a few bubbles flowing elsewhere, it left spots, fingers and partial rings of lacing on the sides of the glass,
this brown ale had aromas of toasted malt, nut, some chocolate with brown sugar sweetness,
it had flavors of toasted malt, chocolate and nut, pretty much the same a the nose,
and a mild bitterness after the finish,
the mouth feel was less than medium and had some creaminess on the palate with average to lively carbonation,
I am a little surprised at the low rating this beer has, I thought it was a nice brown ale.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Was somewhat surprised by how much I liked this. Pecan brown color with a huge head that never fully dissipated. Mild aroma of nuts and toast. Medium bodied mouthfeel with lightly hopped taste. Dry caramel and nutty tastes. I'd get this again.
