3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle; poured a dark brown with a big, frothy and persistent light brown head. Aroma of earth, caramel, sweetness, fruit, and flowers. Flavor was more roasted than earthy. NOt sure I am feeling this one that much, because it came off a bit heart. Very roasty and the earthy hops was not always the most pleasant. Ok.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Texas Liquor: Itís always nice to find a bottle thatís been wax sealed especially if itís from an unknown to my knowledge East Coast brewery. Anyways here is the beer rating
Has a lush succulent scent of darkly roasted black malts that are accompanied by a deep boozy aroma of alcohol, however, any evidence of hops are minimal and would have had me fooled that this was a hybrid IPA. Flavor is robust with a rich base of dark chocolate/roasted malts with a slight tilt in balance towards a bitter taste of hop, however, I just donít see this as a black IPA, but instead as a hopped up porter. Still tasty and satisfying none the less.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from storminorman. Nearly black, nice brown head. This is a pretty good black IPA, but doesnít stand out much to speak of. Roasty, hoppy, chocolate. Finishes bitter, a tiny hint of plastic on the finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bottle with wax, shared with Robby. Black color. Thin light brown greyish head. Good lace. Nice light smoother carbonation. Good chocolate roasty aroma, bit of molasses. Light bitter taste. Unbelievable for 9.5%, no taste of alcohol, and drinks like 7%. Great roasty chocolate aftertaste. Great black IPA.

3.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. This beer canít make up itís mind from a bitterness standpoint. Is it a chocolate bitterness or a hop bitternes? Still a unique beer with a malty aroma and one hell of a head.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bought a 650mL bottle of this from The Wine & Cheese Place in Clayton, MO for $7.49. Poured from the Blue Waxed topped bottle w/ a Ship on the front of the label into a 0,47l New Belgium Oversized Snifter Glass. Has no freshness date but definitely from 2011.
Aroma- A rich and roast nose. Tons of light coffee like attribute with hops wanting to come out on the nose but surely canít because of this malt character. Good overall.
Appearance- Pours a .5, dark tan colored head that dies fairly quick. Has a deep brown colored body with no clarity. Leaves a few suds behind on the glass.
Flavor- Once again, tons of malt, roast, and light coffee flavors. The hop is tough to find out but judging by the medium-high bitterness level, I suppose it is in here. Slight burnt flavor as well.
Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Light-Medium Carbonation, Sticky, and has tons of hop in the finish mixed with roast.
Overall Impression- Once again, this style ALWAYS makes my head hurt, wondering what I should be looking for... This one was drinkable with malt covering up most of the hop flavors. Good all around and starting to enjoy RJ Rockers and their beer portfolio.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle) Pours near black with a brown head. The aroma holds dark caramel, coffee, light chocolate, liquorice, wet asphalt, dark juicy bread, raisins, raspberries, black berries, wet tobacco, mint, earth, wood, resin, spices, light herbs touch of pine and a whisper of citrus. The flavour is light sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic with earthy, minty, grassy, light citric and maybe some piny hops alongside malty notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice, dark caramel, dark bread and asphalt. Hints of dark fruits. The mouthfeel is round, bit numbing and tiny sticky with a light carbonation. Robust hop finish. Medium bodied.
