4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2010 Vintage. Served from tap at the brewery release party into an RJ Rockers shaker. Poured a massively dark brown almost black with a one and a half finger light tan head. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of roasted malt, chocolate, and subtle bitter hops. The flavor was of roasted malt, subtle bitter hop that intensified upon swallowing, and very slight chocolate. It had a medium feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a pretty nicely balanced Black IPA. With this one being as fresh as possible the hop character is in full bloom right now. The aroma on this one was quite nice and had a good flavor to follow it up. This one is a must try if you are a fan of the style.

Poured into traditional pint glass with etching, resulting in foam over. Fluffy tan head over deep black. Nose not notable, but the flavor! Opens sweet with mild bitterness close behind.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours nearly black from the bottle with a thin tan head that dissipates to a slight ring around the edges with very little lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate and alcohol. Fizzy carbonation in the mouth with tastes of dark chocolate (a ton!), roasted malts and a hint of dark fruits and a pinch of citrus. This feels more like a stout than a black IPA. This very good but not what I expected. I really thought this would be more bitter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From old notes - bottle at a tasting -- Dark brown with ring. Dry woody (illegible) coffee aroma. Cleen coffee woody dry clean dry finish. Medium palate. Better than expected. (This was back i the day I was still adjusting to Black IPAs). Very good.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pure black pour with tan head. Aroma is roast malt and hops. Taste does not come up to the standard the aroma set. Bitter and sweet. Chemical bite ruins it for me. It is good, but could have been great.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle @ Habersham Beverage / Savannah GA --- Absolute 100% appealing aroma of roasted malt and hops. As good as it gets. Taste is roasted malt and full floral hops that moves smoothly to a well-balanced lingering finish. A terrific brew, worth seeking out.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2014 On tap at the brewery.
Black and opaque with an excellent tan head.
Aroma has both medium and dark roasted malts, clearly leaning to the dark side.
Flavor is a way more hoppy and has notably more earthy/herbal flavor. Medium-high bitterness (IBU = 80).

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Sweet roasted malt start, hoppy, a touch of soy.   Sweet on the tongue.   As it warms a bit of pasture does come out.   Has a bit of a Necco wafer sweetness also.   Comes across as fairly sweet.   Yeah, sweet Black IPA for sure.   Hoppy finish with a sweet roasted malt background.   For as much roasted malts as there its, its not stout like.   Huge sweet hoppiness is how I would describe this one.   Decent Black IPA... could stand to actually be more hoppy versus sweet.   Thanks Brad!
