2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a light, translucent amber with a thick, white head that stays. Light aroma with little of note. Slightly effervescent mouthfeel. Mild, only slightly bitter flavor (especially light considering the claimed American Pale Ale style), with heavy spice notes. A rather odd combination.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
The beer is amber colour and hazy in the glass. The nose is honey-spicy with hints of nutmeg. The beer starts highly carbonated and slightly sour. Has it turned? Winter is just over… but after three month? Sadly no best-before date on the bottle - so I have to guess that it has to taste like this! (that’s one reason why I hate US-laws concerning beer - but it is the brewery’s fault this time!)- The mainpart stays slightly sour, nice spicy aroma there, maltiness, but I dislike the sourish taste! The aftertaste is smooth malty, spicy with sour fruity elements!
A brew which is too sour for what it wants to be! And - as there is no best-by date - I once again have to assume that the brewers want it to taste like this! --> 4/10/3/4

Super fluffy, rocky head, on hazy orange/gold body. Mild sweet, spicy aroma, gingerbread, fruitcake, etc. Taste is more of the same with a lean towards the sweet side. Slippery mouthfeel. Getting too close to spring to enjoy this style.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
12oz bottle from Party Town. Shared with b3shine. 2nd pour is mostly hazy amber orange colored. Thin off-white head. Interesting kind of citrusy fruity nose... Harsher bittering hop and spice in the flavor. Couple dots and bits of lace. Medium body. Soft, kind of smooth carbonation of moderate strength. Moderate bitter, lightly spicy, light to moderate sweet taste. From the taste I suspect that this was either brewed in early last fall or the fall before. Tastes like a distinctly older pale with spices added, which doesn’t work well. Not a fan of this. Kind of musty. Code on back of the bottle was 4297.

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a mostly transparent orange with off-white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells odd; the hops and winter spices seem to fight rather than marry. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Eh.

Lots of spices but not much else going on. Needs a more assertive ale to stand up to the spices.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Clear medium amber pour with a slight red hue. Nose is of clove mostly, with hints of nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon. Almost a light medium body with good carbonation. Nice balanced blend of spice flavor with nutmeg and cinnamon on the forefront, cardamom in the middle and with clove dominating the end. Clean finish with a bitter clove aftertaste. A bit of sweetness would improve the balance and contrast the spice. Still, this one is outstanding.

It’s a little too seasoned, leaves an almost lemon type aftertaste and a bit of a cinnamon overload.

Nice sweet and spicy smell...taste is of ginger but smooth and mellow...crystal clear with crisp-ish finish! Wish it was a bit maltier though

Bottle into shaker. Golden amber. Strong cinnamon aroma and even stronger cinnamon flavor. Not so great.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
R.J. Rockers The First Snow Ale has a thick, off-white, spongy head, a somewhat hazy, orange-gold appearance, lots of bubble streams, and moderate lacing left behind. The aroma is very much like a spiced candle- wax, nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin?, and white bread. Taste is the same, with an overriding spiciness, which seems to be white pepper, but it’s hard to say, really. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and R.J. Rockers The First Snow Ale finishes semi-dry, refreshing, and spicy. Overall, this is interesting and good. RJT
