Fish Paralyzer is a Belgian-style pale ale that is moderately hopped with Tradition and Saaz. The grain bill calls for a combination of specialty malt to produce its sweetness and copper color. The Belgian Ale yeast used provides a strong Belgian essence to Phenolic and spicy flavors and aromas.

The Saaz hops give it a crisp pilsener flavor. Light spicy flavor and aroma. Extra drinkable and light bodied for this strength.

Sampled at growler shop and brought some home. Name almost scared me off but glad it didnt. Poured murky copper with thick, long lasting head and nice lacing. Well balanced. Citrus and pine up front give way to malty sweetness, with a little maple or maybe even cherry. Drinks like a Belgian pale ale with a bit of an edge. Good brew.

7/07/2011: Fish Paralyzer Belgian-Style Pale Ale... Aroma: Yeasty, dried fruits (apricot, date, peach), floral; Belgian candy sugar; nice fruity esters. Appearance: Cloudy amber color; the first beer poured tonight that actually has a larger, lasting beige-colored dense and frothy head. Flavor: Fruity and spicy (cinnamon, hint of clove); banana (definitely has some Hefe characteristics); somewhat bready and yeasty in the middle; good malt backbone without being overly sweet or heavy; a decent amount of alcohol. Palate: Medium-bodied, smooth and soft. Overall: Fairly flavorful, Id call it a Belgian-Hefe mashup, but REALLY SOFT.

Bomber: Aroma has got a nice dark Belgian ale scent to it, dark fruits, yeast, and ever so slightly boozy. Appearance is a slightly cloudy dark amber with a thick off white head that lingers. Taste has got nicely bitter a little unbalanced and slight alcohol burn. Palate has got decent carbonation with an aftertaste of yeast and dark fruit. Overall, Good but not great. Cheers!

Bottle, this ale had a hazy brown pour with faint plum red color and gave a one finger off-white head that receded to a cover and ring, the center of the glass had a medium (or a bit less) flow of carbonation, drinking left nice spots and sheets of lacing on the glass, there was a loose layer of sediment on the bottom of the bottle that let a lot of clumps in the glass when pouring the last of the bottle, I did not like all the clumps but it happens sometimes, there were aromas of bruised apple, toasted malt, bread, fruit esters of raisin and dark fruit sweetness, faint brown sugar and chocolate, it had flavors of raisin, dark fruit, toasted malt with some pepper spice, faint chocolate in the background, malt and fruit sweetness, the mouth feel was medium or a little thicker and creamy on the palate, it had average carbonation, this ale had dark BSA aromas and flavors but it was not like the better dark BSAs, and it did not have the refinement found in your better dark BSA ales but it was an ok drink.

Bottle pour to snifter. Dark gold. Sour aroma at first, then faded. Not sure why this is classed as a strong ale. It is a nice Belgian golden ale with pilsener characteristics.

Draft at Rattle with Npodendorf. Pours amber orange with a white head. Yeasty and fruity, with some light spicy notes and a wheaty base. Decent.

Two finger head off white creamy, good lacing, has an alcohol smell for only a 7.5% AC that doesn't seem right, caramel malt flavor with a little bitterness upfront.

Bottle. Spicy Belgian yeast, caramel malt, and toast aroma. Chestnut with a small off-white head. Burnt caramel, yeast, and bitter weedy hops flavor. Medium body

Bottle. Sour orange, caramel malt and alcohol aroma - not particularly pleasant. Hazy orange-brown with minimal head. Sweet orange caramel, yeast, and bitter herbal hops and alcohol flavor. Rough (but possibly past its prime).
