Cider vinegar, tomatoes, persimmon nose. Cloudy amber, thin head. Harsh mouthfeel. Dry, vinegar and nutmeg flavor. Everything I dislike about pumpkin beers in one bottle.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A clear orange amber body with a white head That had decent retention and nice lace. Aroma had some nice pumpkin pie spice notes but was dominated by a strong pumpkin note that at times seemed bitter. Flavor seemed more balanced. The spice note was more apparent and the pumpkin had a a slight bitterness but not enough to affect the beer. Smooth finish and nice mouth-feel.

Albany, Ga - Warehouse Package Store - 12 oz bottle. Slightly hazy medium orange pour with a medium thick eggshell white head that sticks around a while. Aroma has is kind of ordinary, only picking up some ripening vegetable notes. Flavor has some ripening vegetable notes, just a hint of pumpkin spices. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Serviceable - nice change of pace from the over-spiced pumpkin ales out there.

0.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
"Gruntled" Pumpkin ale by RJ Rockers. Better name for the beer could be "backwash". Easily the worst tasting "Pumpkin" beer Iíve tasted. There is zero pumpkin flavor to the beer. Has almost no aroma and honestly tastes like a nasty flavored water. Absolutely would not recommend this to anyone. Try instead Southern Tier "Pumking: beer. The most flavorful and full bodied Pumpkin seasonal beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
R. J. Rockerís Gruntled Pumpkin Ale has a thick, foamy, crackling, cream-colored head, a hazy, bubbly, gold-orange appearance, some gray chunks roiling about, and practically no lacing left behind. The aroma is initially a rush of Fall spices, pumpkin pulp, and beer, and then that fades to mainly just a standard beer smell. The taste is the same experience, but this one seems to use black pepper, if that is possible. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and the finish is wet, refreshing, and simple. Overall, this is one of the best pumpkin ales Iíve tried, and it might appeal to me, because of the overriding beer and black pepper aspect. RJT

Growler from ale yeah. A tad towards the pumpkin pie side instead of the cinnamon and spice side of the equation. Much prefer the sweeter pumpkin pie side of things. Nice fall day drinkin beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a near clear, orange-tinged golden body with a small, short-lived, white head.
Smell: Predominately bready, just slightly toasty, with a sweet-smelling quality to it. Squashy notes, maybe a bit of additional fruitiness, and the ground spices.
Taste: Bready malts trailing a sugary sweet, with some squash notes, then spices (mostly cinnamon and nutmeg for me). Minor hop character, low bitterness. The sugariness and other flavors abruptly drop off, with the beer drying out just a bit as a last-minute zip of crispness kicks in.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. A hair over medium carbonation.
Overall: Not bad, but itís not exactly the most appealing pumpkin ale, either.
