Iím not the biggest flavored beer fan but this it the best of both. A great tasting beer and a nice pumpkin flavor.. Itís pumpkin pie in a beer.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a near clear, orange-tinged golden body with a small, short-lived, white head.

Smell: Predominately bready, just slightly toasty, with a sweet-smelling quality to it. Squashy notes, maybe a bit of additional fruitiness, and the ground spices.

Taste: Bready malts trailing a sugary sweet, with some squash notes, then spices (mostly cinnamon and nutmeg for me). Minor hop character, low bitterness. The sugariness and other flavors abruptly drop off, with the beer drying out just a bit as a last-minute zip of crispness kicks in.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. A hair over medium carbonation.

Overall: Not bad, but itís not exactly the most appealing pumpkin ale, either.

Bottle at home. Pours clear dark orange with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is toast malt, pumpkin, nutmeg, and cinnamon with earthy hops. Flavor is malt and spices, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Pours a clear honey-amber, bubbly and just a wee bit hazy, with a nice if not persistent light tan head. Malty aroma has a decided overtone of fresh pumpkin - yum! - and a hint of cinnamon. Flavor delights with pumpkin, malt, cinnamon and even caramel notes; a touch of honey sweetness rounds out the flavor. Texture is firm and smooth, not too fizzy.

10/16/13. 12oz bottle. Hazy orange amber pour, tiny particulates in suspension when you look close, under a small khaki head that doesnít last or lace at all. Pumpkin spice on the aroma... of course... hints of creamed corn, bitterness, and steamed squash. Mild sweetness upfront with a distinct bitterness that punches after, green in a way, mild squashiness, corn, and more pie spice. Blech.

Pint on draft at Quality Bar in Champaign, IL. Amber-orange tint, quickly dissipating white foam on top. Aroma is subtle pumpkin and nutmeg spices. Crisp flavor of cinnamon, pumpkin pie filling, toast, and sweet malt. Pretty traditional and run of the mill for a pumpkin beer. Light bodied, bubbly and very drinkable despite an above average abv. Overall ok, good when your tastebuds need a break. íTis the season for a gourd-pie flavored ale.

12 oz bottle, stamped 4254, served in a snifter. Pours clear, orange-copper with a modest and weak off-white head. A small amount of sediment was left at the bottom of the bottle. Pumpkin pie spices yes, but a bit difficult to pick out with the odd mix of light smoke, cider vinegar and citrus rind. The flavor is not really any better, although, thankfully, the vinegar doesnít make an appearance. O: It doesnít help that this followed a very fine Stevens Point Pumpkin, but even without that contrast this ale would fail to make a good impression. At least it has a fine label. Avoid.

Poured from a bottle. Orange color, slight white head. Smells of a spruce that I cannot think of at the moment. Medium bodied nutmeg flavor with a good finish.

Aroma of spice, cinnamon and cardamom, amber colour not a great head, complex taste of spices, hint of cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. Palate of spice.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/27/2013. Pours moderately hazy bright orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of pumpkin, pear, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, toast, wheat, floral, and yeast earthiness. Ok aromas with huge spice presence and decent malt balance; with good strength. Taste of pumpkin, pear, cinnamon, toast, clove, nutmeg, wheat, floral, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of pumpkin, pear, cinnamon, toast, clove, nutmeg, wheat, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice and well balanced pumpkin, malt, and spice flavors; with solid complexity and no cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid pumpkin ale. Balanced malt, pumpkin, and slice flavors; and easy to drink for the ABV. Pretty enjoyable.
