The Gruntled Pumpkin planted the seed and started a revolution for all of pumpkin-kind. To guard the promising vines of the future that would eventually blossom to become the bottom of the barrel (and that’s a good thing) of this new pumpkin ale.

THOUGHTS: One of the best pumpkin beers I tried this year (and by that I mean 2012 and I am just really far behind in entering my ratings). Perfectly balanced between beer and pumpkin pie. Much lighter and easier to drink than most pumpkin beers. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a light to medium orange with nice carbonation and an average, off-white head that mostly diminished but left good lacing. The aroma had light, light bread, pale malt and cracker; light citrus hops; maybe light yeast; sweet fruity pumpkin; and slight sour pumpkin. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet, lightly bitter and ever-so-slightly sour. There was sweet pumpkin, light pumpkin pie spices, some hops, white bread, a little sour pumpkin, and something like Belgian yeast. The light to medium body was somewhat dry with very fizzy carbonation and a dry and ever-so-slightly metallic finish.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured clear in a light shade of orange, small and non lasting white head. Aroma of spices, pumpkin and malts. Taste is sweet, malty, lots of pumpkin and spice, a bit hoppy too. Good beer, quite drinkable.

Pours an odd lighter orange, a color normally reserved for pale ales, not pumpkins. Minimal head, somewhat fizzy. Aroma is overwhelming spice; clov, cinnamon, nutmeg. Pumpkin pie, sure. This had been done before, many times. And quite frankly, this doesn’t hold up well to those others who were first to market and therefore incurred more risk in consumer acceptance. Seems everyone wants a slice of the gimmicky pumpkin ale pie. Taste is somewhat thin and overly fizzy/carbonated. Booze isn’t masked terribly well. This beer needs work. But in the end, it is a pumpkin ale and for that I enjoyed it to some extent.

Bottle Poured into a pint glass -- Very heavily carbonated, four finger-width head. Aroma is faint pumpkin and a hint of toffee. Flavor is the same, but flavor is greatly hindered by the excessive carbonation. Not a great pumpkin.

Golden in the glass with a nearly white head. Fruity-spicy in the nose, hints of peach and - of course - pumpkin. The beer starts smooth, fruity. Malty and not too sweet body. The mainpart is malty, a bit yeasty, nice subtle pumpkin-aroma with smooth sweetness. The aftertaste in smooth, pumpkin and slightly sweetness.
Nice brew, but could be much more spic and pumpkin in it! --> 10/12/10/19

Very much just a pumpkin ale, as opposed to a pumpkin *pie* ale. Fruity pumpkin with a somewhat bitter (hop?) finish.

Heady pour, cloudy orange, few yeast chunks. Frothy lace. Nice aroma, pretty fruity, kind of estery, kinda belgiany in a overcarbed fruity estery way. Taste is belgiany,fruity,semi-rich,overcarbed,fairly tastey. For a pumpkin ale, I like it more than average.
