COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This "typical" beer has an aroma of wheat, caramel malt and yeast, which give it its legendary spicy taste. Bottle refermentation imparts a yeast enriched flavor.

Formerly known as Cheval Blanc Rousse, now only as Spéciale Rousse.

bottle. looks alright, with it’s copper-like colour and thick fizzy head. strong caramel and butterscotch aroma. lively mouthfeel, kinda sticky. sweet yeast. decent balance of hops and malts...I don’t know, I guess it’s alright.

Tasted in Toronto, obtained from Depanne Plus in Hul QC. Rusty red colour, strong white head. Sustained in glass. (Note: Tasted in dimple mug). Aroma is of light wheat and yeasty elements. Taste is very strong wheat taste with slight caramel notes.

Wow, I’m surprised to see some of the bad ratings for this. I thought it was very good. Hazy dark orange colour with a tan coloured frothy head. Interesting aroma of dark fruit, raisin, caramel, and an earthy, peaty, smoky character. Spicy and yeasty flavour complemented by toffee and raisin. Medium bodied and smooth.

Volgon (2761) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 6, 2004
Hazy orange with a hint of ruby, thin white head. Spicy aroma (coriander) with a bit of lemon with some dark fruits. Lively, well fizzy body, light ending. A bit boring, but fine to drink.

Pours cloudy amber, big off white pillowy head. Herby/spice yeast and grass aroma. Wheaty and pepper. Light sour and soapy. Biscuity malts. Spice cloves? coriander? cinnamon? Buckwheat tastes funny. Finished dry. All malts. Interesting but it was unbalanced.

Cooked cabbage in the aroma with some mild banana. Large white head that recedes completely on golden brown body. Flavour hints at fruit (banana) and suggests spice without really making me believe it. Rather thin body for a wheat beer and mouthfeel is a bit watery.

Eructoblaster (2445) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 24, 2004
Nice cloudy brown-orange body topped with a brew that unfortunately fades quickly. Aroma is interesting (yeast, apple, banana) but could be stronger. The flavor is a complex mix of spices, fruits (banana, pineapple) and yeast. Honest bittersweet final. Sweet and refreshing. A baby-step below the Ambrée d'orge.

Dark orange-amber, small head quickly dissapears. The aroma is sugary , some fruitiness (apples, peaches). The flavour is yeasty, with some nice malt back-bone, some hay too. Short bitter finish. Medium-light body, medium to high carbonation. Not bad. Bottle.

Co-rated by scraff... Murky, deep golden ale. No head. Candied fruit in the nose... a marriage of raspberry and blueberry. Some hay in the aroma as well. The flavor is pungent and tangy. Light-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Crisp, clean finish.

Thin dissapating white head, weak aroma of wheat. Very subtle taste of spice. This won't break any record. Probably one of the weakest beer from Cheval Blanc.
