Draft @ brewery. In krug. Has gold color with lasting beige head. Lightly smoky sunflower seed nutty sweetness. Fresh farmy fun with hop juice too. Pure hoppy Frankenbier.

Ceramic mug. Spicy hop aroma - pepper and marjoram. Spicy hop on the palate, too. The bitterness is moderate for the style and the malts a touch more caramelly than usual. Finishes with a spicy finish that hints of rye bread.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2013 Bottle fresh from the brewery. Effervescent clear gold body with a short white head. Toasted cracker mal, clean, medium-light body, toasty pilsner malt with subtle lemon hops, oily, soft texture. Lightly sweet, low bitterness, mineral water crispness (crisp AND smooth). So it’s a quiet and clean and beautiful beer with a clean toasted malt and Noble hop lemon juiciness. What a surprising hop showcase of a helles. She’s a beaut.

Bottle (bought at the brewery): Slightly hazy, thin but stable off-white head; traces of malts and citrus under a huge blanket of herbal hops in the aroma; dry, rather strong bitter flavour; soft, long, lingering hop-bitter finish with a touch of grains. A very pleasant, moreish Fränkisches Landbier. Holy Gambrinus, hops rule..................!

Ernest (7323) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 23, 2013
Bottle (bought at the brewery). Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs, grass). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A darn solid helles...not quite exciting, but clean, fragrant, and very well-balanced.

Just a touch of haziness. A firm herbal bitterness, both in aroma and flavor. Relatively short aftertaste, or is it the cold that is plaguing me. Hints of vanilla and licorice. Medium bodied. Well made, tasty landbier.

TAR (2677) - Marshall (Asheville area), North Carolina, USA - AUG 20, 2014
Bottle purchased and consumed at the brewery in Nov. 2013: Polished blonde. Broken but consistent white foam. Mellow but appealing aromas of candyish yeast, cottony malt, lemon and flowers. Soft and snug carbonation. Softly hoppy with flower petals accentuated by a lemony elegance. Nice and dry, yet the malt exhibits great depth with a hay dust and baguette lushness to augment the notable leanness and combat the looming raspiness. Dab of pistachio-tinged yeast firms up the body and reminds you that this is Franconian to the core. Seamless finish displays soft malt and ongoing flower petals swirled with a splash of hoppy juiciness and woody Spalt. Clean and balanced, if a bit straightforward, and has just enough character to hold your interest throughout the glass.

(swing top bottle) Clear, golden colour with a foamy white medium-sized head. Moderately sweet strawy malt aroma with a touch of biscuits and strong notes of herbal hops. Bitter-sweet flavour, solid grainy malty base with balanced herbal hops; medium to light bodied with a crispy, well-carbonated mouthfeel; moderately dry, bitter-sweet finish with a good dose of herbal hops.

bottle, Danke MoritzF! Golden yellow colour, medium-sized creamy head. Malty aroma. Full-bodied, malty and hoppy flavour, pleasantly hoppy and bitter with a shy touch of fruit. Hoppy and dry finish and a long aftertaste.
