3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fresh bottle purchased at the brewery (closed when we dropped by, but the friendly brewer kindly sold us some bottles): Bright, super toasty and mineralic, poundcakey aromas with nutty, toffeeish, cookielike malt, pepper, and faint lemon. Snug carbonation. Initially well-rounded, with a grain character that’s as fatly malty as it is polished and awash with subtlety. Hints of honey-kissed toasted bread delight with each sip, accentuating the deeper and sturdier poundcake maltiness. Lusciousness continues with grassy hay and supple toffee flavors. Firm, earthy yeast notes swirled with minerals and woody hops supplement the body with detail and elegance. Notes of fresh bread boundlessly exude. Dash of fruity esters supplies the juicy malt with bright edges toward the rich finish. Not particularly singular in character, but it makes up for it with its clean, succulent, well-structured malt. One of the maltier kellerbiers around, and one I could drink a lot of (as with their delightful Hell).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
5.2% bottle fresh from the brewery, best by date January 2014. So here’s another perfectly clean, enticingly toasty lager form Weber. Aroma is much more toasty / caramelized than the hell, and maybe has a little bit of graininess and perhaps it’s a little "stale" compared to the helles, but I admit my nose isn’t right half-way through my glass. Solid stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (purchased at the brewery). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Another solid entry from Weber...clean with nice malt and hop character. Doesn’t really excite, but is better than 80% of German breweries.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Swing-top bottle, bought at the brewery: Hazy, ambercoloured, thin but stable foamy layer; distinctive grainy and fruity nose with a tinge of dust and yeast; moderate bitter flavour, pleasant soft mouthfeel, low carbonation; shorter, soft bitter and fruity finish. A pleasant and tasty rural Franconian beer...., balances well grainy fruitiness and bitter hoppiness.
