DarkStar22769 (93), Ontario, Canada Mar 9, 2007 This is a very light ale that I had on tap. By all accounts, it should be a decent ale. Its colour is fine and its appearance is rather clean. However, it just comes off as too sterile...there isn’t much to sink your teeth into. The aroma is light. The flavour is not captivating. This is NOT a bad ale, and probably good for the non-micro drinker, but I like more punch in my ales.
terrybail (185), , Ontario, Canada Nov 18, 2008 355ml bottle from the LCBO as part of a Discovery Pack
Aroma is slight hops smells like a cheap Americian pale lager
Pours a nice coppery orange with medium sized foamy white head
The taste is a little metallic it does taste like a pale lager but better i would have one if there was nothing else Beershine (1515), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Oct 2, 2008 Draught @ Winking Judge. Clear coppery gold. Aroma is of toasted butter. Soft, low carbonation. Flavors are Aunt Jemima and butter on waffles. So buttery it actually tastes not too bad and crosses over the diacetyl line to become almost interesting. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 31, 2008 (Draught) Sampled at Wellington Gastropub on August 29, 2008. Pours a lasting, medium-sized foamy white head atop a mild amber body. Nose of mild hops and caramel malt. Very bland flavour a la Okanagan Spring. Somewhat tonic and diacetyl as it warmed up. 4/3/4/2/8 Gpnterojd (133), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2007 Updated: Sep 23, 2007473mL can. Chilled in freezer to get it to ’recommended serving temperature’. Pours a clear light gold with a decent head. Quite creamy when cold. A sweet almost flowery taste compliments alcohol and hops. Nice brew, I wasn’t expecting it to be this good after reading a few other reviews. JustinBathurst (134), Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Aug 21, 2007 I had quite a few of these last year out of bottles, so I thought I’d try it again this year and rate it. It does not seem to be so similar--last year I was more impressed.
Pours clear pale gold, with floating soap suds 1 cm thick. The head does not last very long at all.
The aroma is somewhat hoppy, with cider, citrus rinds, bread, celery, grass, and a lot of honey. However, most of this was revealed only after letting it warm a bit.
The mouthfeel is watery, but crisp, with decent carbonation.
This ale tastes mostly of honey sweetness, some malty-doughiness, lemon cough drops, aspiring, and a tiny wee smidgen of hoppy bitterness. It was much better last year out of a bottle, I’m sure of it.
While it certainly wasn’t bad, it seems to have declined since my last sampling. I hope this is rectified by the next tasting.
