2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Guess who’s been to Morrisons? Clear bronze finely slicked with white. Most definitely not a golden ale. Pretty neutral, slightly mineral and nutty aroma with caramel and aniseed aroma. Soft and anodyne with a difficult, slightly salty, paper and wicker dunked in soda water and Alka Selzer flavour. Smudge of late salvaging caramel. Such a wasted opportunity.

Hazy orange thin white head. Very light fruity aroma. Sweet bit bready. Very bland hop flavor but light and easy to drink

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Amber copper with a medium white, lacy, lasting head. Smells of sweet malt, fruit, wheat and wood. Thin oily body. Sweet caramel malt with a light bitter fruity finish. Rather boring without much character.

Bottle. Golden with an unusual texture and mouth feel that is hard to explain. Definitely a different bitter. Unusual name. unusual beer.

(Bottle): Pours clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and an overly sweet fruit note. Similar notes in taste. Very bland and leaves a tacky sweet aftertaste. Disappointed.

Thanks to Seanyfo for this bottle.
Copper colour with huge beige head. The beer starts a bit watery, malty, not too intense. The mainpart is a bit weak, highly drinkable but lacks on aroma. Malty, a bit sweetish, but not more. The aftertaste is medium, malty-watery with a slightly bitter note, that harmonises nice, but is too light.
--> nice beer, but sadly with a huge lack on aroma. --> 7/12/6/7

Bottle from Rhythm & Booze, Ripon. A pretty standard English bitter. Amber coloured with a diminishing white head. Not much to report. Those Elbow boys should probably stick to making records.

Pours a clear, slightly dull medium straw, with a white head.
Quite neutral aroma, malt, caramel, hops.
Dry, light to medium body, low bitterness, balanced CO2.
Malty, faintly oxidized, cardboardy taste, hops, caramel.

500ml bottle from Morrisons Ross-on-Wye. First thing that hits me is a lambic sweetness, merging with a malty quality that attempts to balance it out, but doesn’t quite. I swam with Elbow in Cannes once.

this ale is not bad, but not special either. standard bitter ale. a session beer or beer to kill my thirst. it has a nice malt taste and bitter aftertaste. like I said, a good thirst killer.

Definitely not a hit. This is thin, metallic and bit disappointing, proving you can write songs when you are beer enhanced but you can’t make beer if you’re a musician. I would hare to think the band think’s this defines their beer taste, if they do and it does then I’ll be changing to lounge music in future.
