Oakey and a little boozy. Some caramelized malt and a bit of a basement aroma. Pours hazy mahogany without a lot of head or lacing. Some citrus peel in the flavor. Slight astringency in finish. Not super exciting. Bottle from Chevy chase.

HammerTroll (509) - Pula / Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 24, 2014
Dark brown color with red hue, small tan fast disappearing head. Aroma of berries, raisin, dark fruits, brown sugar, roasted malts, caramel, honey and maybe a bit oaky. Noticeable presence of alcohol. Medium to heavy sweetness, slightly bitter. Medium body, soft carbonation, creamy texture. Long sweet boozy finish.

Vells (696) - Riga, LATVIA - SEP 20, 2014
Weird one, but after a few sips gets quite good. Lovely malt background, caramel with quite intense fruitiness, berries, bit acetone, weird mix of coffee tobacco. Light sweetness wit some sourness and decent bitterness. Feels bit unbalanced, but its enjoyable anyways

chinchill (1900) - South Carolina, USA - SEP 19, 2014
Dark red brown with a decent head. Toffee and medium malts on the nose. Rich and pleasant but not very complex malty flavor. Way better than Chocolate Old Tom.

Dohny (248) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - SEP 17, 2014
Bottle. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, prunes. Medium sweet at beginning followed by bitterness which is not overhelming malty sweetness. Bitterness comes also from roasted malts. Medium body, oily texture, moderate carbonation. Alcohol is warming, but well hiden. Very nice well balanced beer.

DuffMan (6802) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 15, 2014
Bottle. Dark brown, amber highlights, finely bubbled beige head. Sweet raisin pie aroma, boozy undertones. Sweet raisins/prunes, heavy tea-like tannins, woody earthiness, pithy aspirin bitterness, warming alcohol in the finish. Very nice, but Samuel Smith does a better old ale with their Yorkshire Stingo.

czar (4443) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 12, 2014
pours hazy light Brown orange with a small light beige head, some retention and lacing. earthy molasses, roasted chocolate, some toasted caramel/toffee, dried fruits - mostly raisins but also some dried cranberries, spicy and earthy goldings, tea leaves, grass, pepper. light carbonation, medium body - oily and almost syrupy yet never sweet, woodsy almost tannic-grassy-spicy-gently earthy finish. good for what it is, i guess. quite unique too.
