darker brown pour, wonderfully vinous aroma and flavor with notes of chocolate and loads of dark fruit, toffee and a teeny tiny bit of blacl licorice. Boozy in a good way. Warming finish. Glad I finally tried this.

Fin rødbrun farge med et beige skum. Aroma av malt, moden frukt, karamell og sjokolade. Smaken følger aroma, men får her litt brunt sukker i tillegg. Lang ettersmak

Any beer that puts ’World’s Best Ale’ on the label gets my attention. Rarely is it good attention. Still, Old Tom looks promising - pours a near-black ruby colour with a frothy off-white head that looks in no hurry to go anywhere. Aroma of dark malts and chocolate, some coffee. Flavour is rich, nice bittersweet chocolate, toasty malts, biscuit, very pleasant finish. Not the -best- ale in the world, but I concede that Old Tom is a damn fine contender for the title.

Bottle from Asda, Queensferry. Pours a dark brown/ruby colour with a thick off white head. Aroma is caramel, malt and fruit. Taste is brown sugar, caramel, cherries, with a yeasty finish. Medium carbonation, and a sweet bitter aftertaste. Impressive find amongst the usual drivel in Asda I’d say!

Bottle from Asahiya. Pruney, sugary nose, with slight spice and some alc. fumes. Medium-dark brown color. Very fruity initial, apples, dark fruits, light tobacco, licorice, small amounts of chocolate. A light saltiness is apparent in mid palate. Medium body. The salt note is not particularly welcome. But this beer is quite ripe and rich, with thick flavors. A nice little sipper.

Bottle 33 cl at home. Brown with amber head not persistent. Smoky and caramel aroma, bittersweet peaty taste and final. Great one.

A brilliantly smooth dark ale. Hits you with caramel and honey with a oats / malt finish that lingers!

Looks like a porter but has a more sweet finish to it than you’d expect. A definite hint of caramel/chocolate gives this some character. Pours as black as the night with an off white head. Watch out though at 8.5% this packs a real punch!

Bottle 330ml @ home
Pours clear dark amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, vinous, dried fruits, hint of yeast, caramel and hint of chocolate and alcohol. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long yeasty, malty, slightly warm and grassy finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
