Ingredients: British pale malt, crystal malt, small percentage of chocolate malt, caramel for colour adjustment. Goldings whole hops and small percentage of Northdown.

A 2009 vintage; been sitting dormant in the cellar since being back from the U.K. Into an Old Tom tulip at cellar temperature. Low pffft as the cap releases. Perfect ruby hue up in the lights with excellent clarity but deep and dark otherwise. Minimal head but good, oily legs string the glass as it is swirled. Strong, pungent sense of caramelised plums on the nose. Madeira and fortified notes, sherry, Marmite™, kecap manis, dates in syrup and earth are in there giving it complexity. Dominant fruit on the palate. Plums and prunes, Merlot grapes and a little cherry acidity. Wood, earth and charred, smoky notes break it up. Good hit of bitter, burnt and savoury fruit mince notes on the palate and lasting in the swallow. Alcohol is well integrated. Carbonation offers height and boldness.but is soft enough to give it an oily, viscous feel even with a medial to light body. It is plump, full of life and fruity with a lovely balance of sweet fruit and acids.Very mellow and mellowing. A lovely slow sipper!! Bootle shared with bartom34 - Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: roasted malt, caramel and sugar cane. Strong alcohol boozy nose. Oak notes. Taste: medium/full body with caramel roasted malt notes. Caramel and boozy alcohol notes. Good attenuation and quiet drinkable. Aftertaste: roasted malt, caramel and alcohol.

Great dark colour. Aroma roasted malts with some fruits. Sweet at ther start and long bitterness, which suits aroma. Also, at the first taste i experienced interesting sweet and bitter taste changing

Dark. Aroma of grapes, burnt caramel with a faint whiff of burning alcohol. Nice. Tastes of sweet caramel and bitter coffee. Unfortunately the alcohol shines through on the tongue. Good, not great.

Undoubtedly a winter warmer, this beer would be perfect to enjoy whilst reading a book on a dark, cold, blustery evening in winter. Strong liquorice tastes and not conspicuously boozy.

Pours very dark ruby, almost black body with frothy, medium sized off-white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Smell is rich, dark fruits, berries, chocolate and caramel. This is going to be good. Medium body, softly carbonated. Texture is smooth and oily. Overall taste is moderately bitter. Aroma of caramel, licorice, toffee, forest fruits, chocolate, liquor. Slightly roasted. Rich and complex. Lovely alcohol burn on the tongue, giving the beer a bit boozy and bitter mouthfeel. Long finish. Overall, excellent brew. Smooth and delicious.

Beige bumpy head with orange notes, dark mahogany reddish body. Aroma; leaves, hops, dark malts, malted candies, dusty. Taste; dark malts, roasted malts, whiskeyish notes, grass - leading to a malt-fruity semi-dry finish. Good on palate. Premium sipper. [33cl.special.btl, abv8.5%, BB.AUG17]

0,33 bottle at home. - Powerful chocolate and dark fruits, burnt bread and sweet nuts on the aroma. The flavor is very nutty with a slight flavor of wort and vanilla. The burning alcohol-flavor drags it down, though.
