Bottle, deep brown with a clingy off-beige head and aromas of earth and old wine barrel, plus hint of demerara and leather. Palate is oaky and musty, turning sweeter with some dried dark fruit coming through plus hints of brandy and a dry earthy bitterness that lasts into the aftertaste.

Bottle. Dark brown mahogany. Very brown, murky nose - some raisins, plums, dark bread. Long flavour, dark malts. Not really my thing.

Bottle. Dark caramel brown with off white head. Aroma is metallic, not much else, jist faint dusty metal. Taste has lots of toffee and caramel, little nutty chocolate. Quite sweet and a little sticky. Half a bottle was hard work.

Bottle. 3/31/13. Pours a deep red-brown with a thin, bubbly very light brown head. Aroma is brown sugar, toast, ginger bread, licorice. Smells really great. Taste is toast, booze, brown sugar, dark fruit, prunes, toffee; finish is bitter fruit peel. Mouth feel is clean and crisp. Medium carbonation; appropriate. Some lacing. Overall, I was really quite pleased with this. Flavorful, drinkable, strong. Liked this a lot,

Fantastic sweet chocolate aroma. Taste reminds me of mouldy bread, might be a bad bottle?

TyggaBrown (266) - NORWAY - MAR 25, 2013
A bit disappointed. The chocolate was better, and this one a bit thinner than expected. Nicely bitter and with taste of coffee and pepper. As I sais, thinner than one could expect. Tastes good, though.

Bif (1053) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - MAR 24, 2013
Pours a dark ruby color with a off white head that fades to bites of lacing. Aroma of Malt, dark fruit, some carmel bit of chocolate and spices. Taste of malt, caramel, trace of chocolate and spices. Mild bitterness and quite clean with a bit of lingering spice. Moderate body, smooth with a unique rich flavor that is enhanced as it warms. Good beer for the style. Probably would go best on a cold winter evening. Whorth checking out.

Jan 2012 - Syrupy, sweetish, peppery, rich. Not got much hoppiness or bitterness. Would be interesting to try the draught version.
