Pours a dark brown color, topped with a fairly small dark beige colored head. Roasty malts, some chocolate notes and coffee plus some soy sauce aroma. Taste starts sweet, followed by roasty body with some nice bitterness. SOme soury notes also in there. It doesn’t feel like 8,5%. Nice.

part of my 2013 backlog. Colour is dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has roasted sweet malts. the taste was toasted malt and fruit with a sweet alcohol finish.

Bottle pour, medium dark brownish black color, 1 finger head that dissipates to a filmy ring on sides, nose is interesting with chocolate for sure, fig presence, smoky peat/burnt creme brulee, mouthfeel is clean and at first light bodied, real interesting taste character here with some wee heavy, stout and porter character, like the bottlecap as well, does provide some warmth as things progress, overall well done

Bottle, gift from somewhere. Dark chocolate brown with a bit of khaki head. Simple aroma of chocolate malt with a hint of sarsaparilla. Taste is sweet and malty like an alcoholic Milo. A hint of bitter hop surfaces at the end. Good balance on the finish. Not a particularly exciting beer, and like the cask erosion I was expecting a bit more at 8.5%.

Pours a dark ruby color with a off white head that fades to bites of lacing. Taste of malt, caramel, trace of chocolate and spices. Mild bitterness and quite clean with a bit of lingering spice. Moderate body, smooth with a unique rich flavor that is enhanced as it warms.

Bottle. Poured a dark clear brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer.

Couleur brune; pratiquement pas de mousse; odeur fruitée, vineuse; goût malté avec une légère amertume; les 8,5% se font très dicrets

11.2 oz. bottle, consumed on 12-17-14. Pours dark brown with a slight maroon hue and a small amount of beige head. Nice color but I would like to see more head. Tangy, bready aroma emphasizes English yeast. Clay and Play-Doh scents. Not so appealing smell. Bready taste features a licorice flavor as well as burnt prune. Bitter, plummy, toasty. Flavors of red grape and artificial grape. Somewhat bitter, medicinal, licorice-like finish and aftertaste. Not my kind of beer but not offensive. Medium body. Utterly forgettable palate effects.
