Old Tom has a thin, cream-colored head, some scattered lacing left on the glass, and an opaque, red-brown appearance, with noticeable tight bubble streams and tan chunks suspended throughout. The aroma is of dates, sweet fruit cake, strong, bready malt, and a touch of chocolate. Taste is the same, and the mouthfeel is high medium. Old Tom finishes on the wet side. Smooth, though. RJT

Clear dark brown liquid. Roasted malt and caramel aroma. Taste is rather sweet with a bitter finish. Good beer overall.

330ml brown bottle poured into a smifter glass. Appearance is clear dark brown with a medium sized tan thick frothy head that. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, maple syrup, toffee and nutty notes. Flavours of caramel, syrup loaf, chocolate, toffee and nutty notes. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. Robinsons Old Tom is a style typical goold old ale, a bit too sweet for my taste, but that was expected from the style.

0.33 l bottle from Alko. Red/Brown colour, OK head. Aroma and taste is mainly ginger. Hot ginger. This is very nice dark strong ale. You can’t really taste the ale because of ginger.

Aroma is sweet from malt, sweet fruits ready to pick and some syrup. Taste is also sweet, dried fruits and brown sugar. Light bitterness and really pleasant old ale.

11.2 ounce (330 ml) bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours a dark reddish/brown color with a half inch light tan head that stuck around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like dried dark fruit, molasses, port wine, and a bit of brown sugar and bananas. It tastes like dried dark fruit, banana, toffee, molasses, port wine, grape skins, and some earthiness. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s slick and smooth with a good amount of carbonation. Regardless if you call this an Old Ale or an English Strong Ale, it’s a good brew. I’d buy this one again.

@ Havregatan 151218. Bottle (330 ml) from Systembolaget. Sweet and dried fruity with woody and light caramely notes, medium to full body with an oily texture. The finish is fruity.
