Botlle from Ambrosetti, Berlin, Germany. Very dark with orange tint. Aroma of black berries, chocolate malt and some alcohol. Slightly sour, wine-like, fruity, spicey, very tasty. Lively mouthfeel, full body. The best ale I’ve tasted so far.

Kicsi, nem túl tartós hab, sötétbarna szín. Illata karamelles, pörkölt malátás, kissé élesztős. Kissé száraz, karamelles, fűszeres ízvilág, pici aszalt gyümölcsös beütéssel. Lecsengéskor némi kávé is előbukkan, kis alkohollal egyetemben. Közepesen testes, erősen szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Nem rossz, de azért van jobb is.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2016 Head doesn’t last so slipped a bit for appearance. Lovely fruit rich aroma. Same spice fruit in mouth . Was expecting more sickly alcohol kick due to other reviews but pleasant for strength. Chocolate in their . Nice. Alcohol warmth did come through towards end of glass.

Dark mahogany. Rich malt, molasses, dried fruit, chocolate, and a bit of spice and alcohol, characterise the aroma and flavour of this beautiful ale. Full and sweetish taste, with a dry and moderate bitter finish. Full body. Overall, a great old ale. It is tasty, and very well balanced. Harmonious even.

Very deep brown body with a quite small, beige and long-lived head. Malty and strong aroma of lightly roasted malt, dark caramel, dark dried fruits and brown sugar. Strong flavour of dark dried fruits, lightly roasted malt and dark caramel. Moderate sweet and moderate bitter taste, long finish. Medium to full body, creamy texture, rather soft carbonation, pleasant vinous mouthfeel. A nice one!

A 2009 vintage; been sitting dormant in the cellar since being back from the U.K. Into an Old Tom tulip at cellar temperature. Low pffft as the cap releases. Perfect ruby hue up in the lights with excellent clarity but deep and dark otherwise. Minimal head but good, oily legs string the glass as it is swirled. Strong, pungent sense of caramelised plums on the nose. Madeira and fortified notes, sherry, Marmite™, kecap manis, dates in syrup and earth are in there giving it complexity. Dominant fruit on the palate. Plums and prunes, Merlot grapes and a little cherry acidity. Wood, earth and charred, smoky notes break it up. Good hit of bitter, burnt and savoury fruit mince notes on the palate and lasting in the swallow. Alcohol is well integrated. Carbonation offers height and boldness.but is soft enough to give it an oily, viscous feel even with a medial to light body. It is plump, full of life and fruity with a lovely balance of sweet fruit and acids.Very mellow and mellowing. A lovely slow sipper!! Dark. Aroma of grapes, burnt caramel with a faint whiff of burning alcohol. Nice. Tastes of sweet caramel and bitter coffee. Unfortunately the alcohol shines through on the tongue. Good, not great.
