4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Botlle from Ambrosetti, Berlin, Germany. Very dark with orange tint. Aroma of black berries, chocolate malt and some alcohol. Slightly sour, wine-like, fruity, spicey, very tasty. Lively mouthfeel, full body. The best ale I’ve tasted so far.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Claims on the bottle to be the world’s best ale. Pours dark and tawny into the glass with a dirty tan head that rapidly exhausts itself. Smell is portwine, malt, and wet ink. The smell changed after some time in the glass, with the ink (thankfully) disappearing, and some chocolate notes appearing, but with the fruity portwine remaining dominant throughout. Taste is lightly bitter, with a fruity sourness, and with a bit of spice. The tongue follows the nose and there are strong portwine undertones here. Warming. Finish is dry, long and bitter. Despite an awkward start this settled into a most agreeable and pleasant brew.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Old Tom has a thin, cream-colored head, some scattered lacing left on the glass, and an opaque, red-brown appearance, with noticeable tight bubble streams and tan chunks suspended throughout. The aroma is of dates, sweet fruit cake, strong, bready malt, and a touch of chocolate. Taste is the same, and the mouthfeel is high medium. Old Tom finishes on the wet side. Smooth, though. RJT

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml brown bottle poured into a smifter glass. Appearance is clear dark brown with a medium sized tan thick frothy head that. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, maple syrup, toffee and nutty notes. Flavours of caramel, syrup loaf, chocolate, toffee and nutty notes. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. Robinsons Old Tom is a style typical goold old ale, a bit too sweet for my taste, but that was expected from the style.

0.33 l bottle from Alko. Red/Brown colour, OK head. Aroma and taste is mainly ginger. Hot ginger. This is very nice dark strong ale. You can’t really taste the ale because of ginger.
