COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

rating the 33 cL bottle despite the label. A lovely dark amber/brown colour with a cornetto head. Smells chocolately, a bit of hobnob, slight alcohol. Palate is a bit too milky and chocolately for a beer. Nice as chocolate biscuit beer, but otherwise, its bit too sweet and fanciful. Pleasant chcolate ale, but its a little shallow.

Bottle. The strength of the Old Tom holds up pretty well against the cocoa, with cocoa and a touch of alcohol on the nose, warming malt, vanilla and alcohol on the tongue first, then the cocoa comes through again, before a dry bitter and cocoa finish with a hint of vanilla again. Did I mention the cocoa yet?

Amber color, low carbonation.Fruity aroma, some hints of chocolate. Chocolate is realy noticable in the first sip, then fades bit, to give way to the bitterness. Very nice beer!

At a tiny tasting in my home, bottle, pours amber with a very light brown head that dissipates quickly, sweet chocolate and coffee aroma, mild chocolate taste, medium body, delicately carbonated, and overall a disappointing beer and less good than the original Old Tom.

def an interesting one. unlike most of the chocolate flavored ales ive had which i think have all been stouts, youngs, southern tier, etc., this is more of an old ale with creamy chocolate aroma and flavor. different in that its an addition, not a taste from the malts, so its a little artificial, but not bad. a little too sickly sweet, but still enjoyable.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours brown with a small off-white head and an aroma of chocolate, malts and cream. The taste at first medium sweet and high on chocolate and then turns more bitter. There’s notes of overripe fruits, toffee, dark malts whipped cream. Really drinkable beer.
