COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

Bottle at One-Eyed Betty’s in Ferndale. Pours a pitch black color with a small amount of beige head that lingers a bit. Aroma is almost entirely chocolate fudge with a small scent of vanilla. Taste is very smooth and lightly sweet. Lots of chocolate and not much else. Somewhat thin body. This was pretty tasty but nothing amazing.

Very, very smooth. Light chocolate flavor, especially with the finish. Decent but certainly not the best. Worth a try but not worth hunting for.

33cl bottle. Dark rubi coliur with an off-white head, good lasting, nice lacework. Aroma is milk chocolate, caramel and sugary. Flavour is dominated by chocolate, sweet, caramel and malts. The final is moderate sweet. Carbonation and body are medium. Texture is medium oily.

Bottle. Pours brown with gold highlights, and has a high, foamy, pillowy cream-colored head. There’s some chocolate notes in the nose, but also cola, citrus, and very light smoke. Definitely chocolate, but not at all sweet -- the chocolate is subdued, and more supports the old ale savory and dried fruit notes. Finishes long and bitter. Very interesting, and not at all what I expected.

The taste and aroma has a nice touch of chocolate and coffee. Maybe the lack of sparkling and livelyness is for the better...?

Bottle. Copper body, medium off-white head. Fruity aroma with some cocoa beans. Taste has dark berries and light cocoa. Not chocolatey in the way I had hoped for (darker and more thicker) but this type of cocoa mix works too. But still, the original Old Tom is the best.

A - Chestnut Brown fluffy white head that calmed down to a film that stuck around for half the beer. S - candied fruits, a hint of spice, Fruit Cake, tootsie roll chocolate. T - Sticky chewy tootsie roll fruit cake, dates and a bit of nutty aftertaste M+D - A bit thin, I was expecting a smoother heavier mouthfeel. I could drink another though and that is unusual with me for these types of Brews.

Bottle. Pours brown in color with a bit of a ruby hue and a cocoa lacey head. The aroma notes of cocoa, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor notes of cocoa (brownie sweet like) and vanilla caramels with a touch of a hop bite in the foreground. Sweetened up and the bite died as it warmed in the glass.
