Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsonsí award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ínaturalí milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

Bottle: Aroma of malt, light chocolate, slight vanilla, and some plasticy nail-polish remover. Poured amber in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. A few medium-sized particle throughout. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, chocolate, and a little dust. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt and chocolate finish.

Malts and chocolate in aroma. The flavor is milk chocolate mixed with fruit, raspberry possibly. Not much in the way of an old ale in flavor or appearance, this was a decent mix of chocolate and fruit, although not exceptional in body.

Bottle 33cl, a clear dark amber beer with low creamy head. Nose is low. Aroma is medium sweet with a nice dark chocolate and caramel body, finish is very bitter with a grassy and spicy hops flavor. Good old ale with cardamom and vanilla notes.

I approached with caution after a bad experience with chocolate porter from this brewery Very dark brown with a tan head.Chocolate and vanilla flavour, like a rather obvious dessert. Not unpleasant, just a bit, well, obvious.

Pours copper-red with almost zero head. Faint smell of chocolate and malts. Taste immediately hits you with the chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Surprisingly ends dry on a nice bitter note. Iíd have another.

Bottle with a pasted-on MHD of 30.09.12. Nose erupts with bakerís chocolate and nothing else - pure chocolate explosion. Ruby body with a sudsy tan head. Taste is surprisingly dry considering the suggestion of chocolate, which is indeed here. Malt is a bit weak and simple, cacao and light caramel with light vanilla, and an airy sort of gimmick reminiscent of my own HB adjunct additions. Light body with an unattractive filmy quality and thereís a clear ring of artificiality. My fellows below are perhaps a bit too harsh (this isnít undrinkable, nor is on the level of some disastrous Belgian experiments), but they rightly capture the resounding disappointment.

Bottle. Rich in chocolate on the nose, hints of licorice. Pourís a clear rich rich red colour with little head. Medium sweet malt and chocolate flavour with lingering nutty flavours. Creamy texture with a medium body. Interesting beer.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a surprising clear amber with almost no head. Nose is light chocolate and creme caramel. Taste comes across as a light, beery choc milk. Far too late for what I was expecting. Not bad. Huge drinkability

Really dark amber, but not as dark as Original Old Tom. Not much foam. Malty milk chocolate on the nose, developing into fruits, vanilla and darker chocolates in the mouth. Thereís a sweetness and a mild bitterness bite to it. Biscuity finish, with malts which lasts. Pleasant, but much prefer the original Old Tom.
