Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

0,33l bottle from Beer Bier. Clear, dark reddish amber color with medium off-white head. Interesting, intensive, dry odor with dark chocolate, milk caramel, raisins, some coffee, liqueur and a little whisky. If you wait a couple minutes, the odor and the aroma will be much intensive and delicious. A little bitter aroma with caramel, chocolate, raisins, a little coffee and liqueur. It has an interesting cookie feeling, but the little bitterness make it balanced. Medium bitter-sweet taste. MEdium body with creamy texture and sofr carbonation. Unique, delicious finish with dark chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Very delicious beer with a big amount of flavours and aromas.

Pours dark copper with a large, fading head. Skunky aroma at first, with only traces of chocolate noticeable. Some faint nutty and roasty malt is present Flavours have similar problems, although a bit more chocolate presence helps, along with some nutty malt. However there’s an overriding grainy note throughout and very little supporting malt. Also some industrial booze notes show up in the finish. Body feels watery.

A very distinctive and sweet chokolate flavor, and a nice bitterness. Dark brown in color with a reddish note. Small white head.

Pours a chestnut/ruby color with a medium lt tan head. Aroma is light and nutty with mild chocolate...a bit like tootsie rolls. Flavor is very much like tootsie rolls with a bit of earthy hops and mild nutty/lightly roasted malt. Mouthfeel is light/medium and the finish lingers with roast and chocolate tootsie roll.

Dark ambeer colour with medium head, looks ok. Nice body and carbonation. Aroma is really milk chocolate with some vanilla notes. Taste is mostly malty, sweet, and at the end it’s possible to notice the chocolate presence, but not the same as in Aroma. Good beer.

Pours brown/mahogany with about a finger of off white head. Smell is a lot of chocolate. Some maltiness. Taste is a bit of milk chocolate with a sour/bitter finish. Watery. I didn’t mind it, but it’s not a great chocolate beer.

Bottle: Aroma of malt, light chocolate, slight vanilla, and some plasticy nail-polish remover. Poured amber in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Clear. Sparkling. A few medium-sized particle throughout. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, chocolate, and a little dust. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Malt and chocolate finish.

Malts and chocolate in aroma. The flavor is milk chocolate mixed with fruit, raspberry possibly. Not much in the way of an old ale in flavor or appearance, this was a decent mix of chocolate and fruit, although not exceptional in body.
