Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

Bottled. Poured medium orange with light sediment suspended in there. The aroma picked up lots of chocolate, skewed toward the sweet stuff.. fairly aggressive vanilla on the edges.. like candy. The flavor found more strong vanilla on the core than anything else, with milk chocolate and cocoa behind.. there was an oaky sharpness throughout that didn’t make sense.. finished sharp with a backwash of vanilla and cocoa. Medium-bodied with an OK feel at best on the palate.. this didn’t do it for me.

Pours thin and black. Aroma is a delicious bouquet of milk chocolate and coffee. Flavour lets down the aroma. Not very full bodied and needs more malt flavour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle from Hipercor, Oviedo. @home 10-04-2014.
In short: chocolate aroma ale.
Pours dark mahogany/copper, quite clear, with creamy off white head. Short head retention, some lacing. Milk chocolate aromas, among some caramel and sweet ones. Medium body, soft carbonation, oily texture. Taste is chocolate, some caramel, mil bitterness. Smooth, balanced and enjoyable.

Good chocolate ale and easy to drink. Lots of chocolate and sweetness however the chocolate flavor tasted a little artificial. Ale was smooth but a little too thin. I will drink this again but prefer the Samual Smiths Organic Chocolate Stout.

From the embossed 330 ml. bottle. Medium amber pour with a fluffy, cream colored head and considerable lacing. British malts have this distinction that I rarely see copied in the US. I get that distinction on the aroma as well as a cocoa note. Sweetness. The body is about medium. Decent pale malt flavor with a more mild chocolate base and again mild bitter finish. A decent enough pub beer.

330ml bottle from Tallinn, dark amber/reddish brown colour. small mostly vanishing off-white frothy head, fair lacing. Moderately malty roasty aroma of milk chocolate and molasses with a hint of coffee and light resiny hops. Taste is initially quite balanced and a bit acidic, bittersweet finish with a lightly acetic feel. Medium to full body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Really pleasant and strong chocolate aroma without being overly sweet, quite a nice ale. Would’ve been downright brilliant if there was a bit more depth in the malt and hop profile.

11.2oz custom Old Tom brown glass bottle pours with a clear amber to ruby red body that supports a somewhat loose weak tan head of foam. The aroma offers up malts, caramel malts, brown sugar and a dash of chocolate. The taste begins sweet with malts, a brown sugar like note and some caramel malts. Toward midway a pleasing and firm chocolatey goodness surfaces and basically takes over the flavor save for a slight rootbeer soda sensation. Pretty nice stuff.
