Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsonsí award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ínaturalí milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

The chocolate somewhat improves a beer that I donít particularly rate in its standard form. Think more dry cocoa than creamy dairy milk. Anyone else getting blackforest flavours? As with the original itís too malty to really matter.

330ml bottle, pours amber brown with an off white head. Aroma has the infused chocolate over the top of the malt, other aromas are cherry, dark fruit. Body is light, thin texture with average carbonation. This is big on chocolate but seems a bit thin, seems to overpower rather than balance the malt and hop.

330ml bottle from beer52.co.uk. A reddish chestnut pour with a ring of cream head; fruity aroma with a trace of chocolate; smooth and bitter to start then developing some milky chocolate; then some sourish fruit and a warming finish with lingering chocolate. Not as much body as I expected, or would like.

Came with a Beer 52 order. Bottled.

Aroma: Dark chocolate, cocoa powder, ginger, cinammon.
Appearance: Pours a toasted brown colour. Light caramel head.
Taste: A strong malt, and chocolate taste. Notes of ginger.
Palate: Bittersweet throughout. Light carbonation. Light to medium body.
Overall: I donít like porters, and stouts, that are renowned for their chocolate and coffee notes. Theyíre usually too "strong" for my liking. However, this is an ale that gets its chocolate notes by adding cocoa, rather than from the malt. Itís very smooth for the ABV. Definitely enjoyable, and great if you like dark chocolate. A very pleasant surprise!

Bottle from Beers Of Europe [160115]
Copper amber, clear, frothy off white head, some lacing
Aroma of fruity caramel, sweet candy chocolate, quite a strong nose, dab of vanilla, bit odd, chocolate seems artificial
Taste of caramel, sweet chocolate which seems disjointed in this beer, dab of soft bitter hops, some fruity caramel, unusual taste, getting a plastic note
Palate - Medium carb and body, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour,
Overall - The artificial tasting chocolate and Old Tom donít really go together. Drinkable but not great.

red, clear color. smells sweet, of carmamel, licorice, a bit like medicine and some malts. medium body, bitter sweet taste and some herbal notes. weird combination, for me has a bit of a medical taste.

330ml bottle from Tesco. Pours chestnut brown. A very good base old ale with a hint of chocolate. Easy drinking for the strength.
