Originally labelled as Chocolate Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Chocolate circa 2011.
Old Tom with chocolate is an indulgent rich combination of Robinsons’ award winning Old Tom and the finest cocoa. It is a superior full bodied strong ale filled with the flavour of ripe malt and velvety smooth chocolate teased together with an inspired touch of Madagascan bourbon vanilla.
Chocolate Tom is a deliciously indulgent addition to the Old Tom range, with a recipe developed by Robinsons and the renowned chocolatier Simon Dunn.
With a distinctive ’natural’ milky sweet chocolate palate balanced by underlying hop and roasted malt characters, Chocolate Tom is a superior, rich and warming speciality beer with a dark mahogany colour.

Served in a tulip from a 330ml bottle. Pours dark brown clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is vinous and slightly sour, prunes, chocolate and hint of molasses. Taste is caramel, grass and chocolate notes. Thin to medium body with lively carbonation. Pleasant and refreshing, very quaffable without being overwhelming on the sweet side. Lovely!

Slight chocolate aroma with little head and no lacing. Dark amber hue. Taste is pleasant bitterness with slight chocolate coming through ring at the end. Slight fizzyness on tongue and roof of mouth. Pleasant beer but not remarkable.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear dark brown color with medium creamy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and vanilla. Taste starts sour bready and grassy, follows by mild sweet roasted malt and chocolate, even some medicinal notes present, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. I would prefer more creamy and less grassy brew, but that’s old ale...

Nice aromatic beer with a full roasty taste and hints of dark chocolate yet somewhat fuity A bitter sweet aftertaste, in my case i could sense a plum aroma. Foam was thick and stayed in the glass long after drinking, although there wasn’t much of it. Color was a nice mahogany as stated on their site. I enjoyed it more than the "commercialy popular" dark ales.

330ml bottle. Clear dark amber brown colour with a creamy smooth off-white head, good retention. Aroma: light roasted malt, chocolate, caramel. Taste: chocolate, malt, liquorice, vanilla, molasses. Quite sweet overall with a slight bitterness in the finish, slight taste of alcohol too. Soft carbonation, smooth oily mouthfeel. Pretty nice brew.

Chocolate Tom is an easygoing dessert beer for a weeknight. At 6%, this Old Tom variant is lighter than many Old Ales currently available. Brown pour with a fluffy head. Milky, creamy chocolate and molasses aromas. Flavor is consistent with the smell: chocolate, vanilla, and molasses. A medium-bodied beer that’s big on sweet, light on heat.

Bottles from York Beer & Wine and B&M, Team Valley, Gateshead. Amber-brown in colour with milk chocolate and red fruity flavours followed by caramel, vanilla and more sweet chocolate on the finish. Very good.

Bottle. A- Molasses, milk chocolate, subtle bourbon. A- Brown color, murky liquid, tan head. T- Molasses, chocolate, subtle sweetness, mild alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- At first I thought I bought the regular Old Tom and was a bit disappointed when I found out it was the Chocolate version. As soon as I got a smell, the disappointment went away. This smelled like a Russell Stovers chocolate covered molasses bite and the taste is about the same. The bottle seemed bigger than it was too. Overall, I was surprisingly pleased with this one.
