Originally labelled as Ginger Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Ginger circa 2011.
Ginger Tom is a lively breed indeed, a subtle snap of ginger creates lovely purring warmth for those cold winter nights, or a refreshing summer beverage when served over ice.
Specially brewed using an infusion of Chinese bruised ginger root and botanical extracts, this warming speciality ale has a pronounced ginger and spiced herb palate complemented by a sweet roasted malt dryness and wonderful ginger after burn.
Ginger Tom is a richly flavoured dark oak coloured ale with distinctive aromas of peppery spice and sweet ginger.

Dark dep amber brown with a frothy, lasting tan head. Smells of strong liquorish, ginger, malt, roasted malt, spice and ginger. Medium to light oily body and light carbonation. Tastes like soda but with strong liquorish. elements, Roasted malt with strong dry ginger and a bitter rather metalic finish. The Old Tom is good but the ginger here makes it worse. An interesting novelty though.

Dark brown hue with a thin light beige head. Bready and biscuity malt aroma with lots of ginger and pear. Over sweet flavor with lots of pear and ginger juices, and bland dark-ish tasting malt.

330ml (as Marks & Spencer Ginger Ale) courtesy of Stuartyboy, caramel, ginger aroma with some vanilla, russet brown, very thin cream head, very sweet vanilla with a subtle ginger kick, oily, easy to drink

330 ml bottle It has enough ginger to dominate the aroma and flavor and to add a peppery bite to the feel, but enough dark malts and pear juice so that it’s not simply ginger flavored. O: flavorful and interesting, but avoid this if you do not like ginger.

Ginger ale - Old Tom. Delicious, unusual, good beer, but the price bites - about 200p.

Strong aroma of ginger as name implies. Hint of citrus and herbs in taste. Dark brown color, no head. Medium sweetness, I would have preferred less sweet. Medium body, flat, abrupt finish. Overall nice ginger taste, a bit more spicy and longer after taste would be even better.

From 0,33l bottle, BBD: NOV15, Pours clear dark red to brown liquid, Aroma: malty, caramel, toasty, ginger, sugar/ syrup, Taste: medium to heavy sweet, light to medium bitter, light to medium sour, spicy ginger dominating, backed by malty, caramel and toasty notes, sweet sugary/ syrupy - cola taste - reminds me cola lollipop - not the thing I would appreciate in the beer. But overall drinkable.
