Originally labelled as Ginger Tom. Label was changed to read Old Tom With Ginger circa 2011.
Ginger Tom is a lively breed indeed, a subtle snap of ginger creates lovely purring warmth for those cold winter nights, or a refreshing summer beverage when served over ice.
Specially brewed using an infusion of Chinese bruised ginger root and botanical extracts, this warming speciality ale has a pronounced ginger and spiced herb palate complemented by a sweet roasted malt dryness and wonderful ginger after burn.
Ginger Tom is a richly flavoured dark oak coloured ale with distinctive aromas of peppery spice and sweet ginger.

Dark dep amber brown with a frothy, lasting tan head. Smells of strong liquorish, ginger, malt, roasted malt, spice and ginger. Medium to light oily body and light carbonation. Tastes like soda but with strong liquorish. elements, Roasted malt with strong dry ginger and a bitter rather metalic finish. The Old Tom is good but the ginger here makes it worse. An interesting novelty though.

bottled, thanks to mowbeer for sharing. amber to brown, somewhat hazed with a shortlived head; plenty of stewed ginger in the aroma, slightly stale; modest ginger heat, hints of caramel, a bit of a nothing finish

330ml bottle at home. Aroma is indeed very spicy ginger, some caramel, malt. Appearance is clear to light cloudy with a fast decreasing brown-ish head. Taste is sweet and light sour. A bit licorice-ish. Stays for a while on the palate. Drinkable but not the choice for every day.

33cl. M&S branding. Heavy ginger fizzy drink without major resemblance to the beer. Sharp and tangy. Heavily caramelized. Starts to burn your mouth in about 2 minutes after you try it - a tricky drink that is. Worth a try, but again - this has nothing to do with traditional ale.

Bottle from M&S. Aroma ginger, lemony citrusy, lots of caramel, herbal. Clear amber-brown colour, quickly disappearing head. Pretty complex in flavour, surprisingly harmonic considering the number of added flavours. Warming, caramel, ginger, lemony, green tea, herbal. Refreshing, moreish, better than expected.

Dark brown hue with a thin light beige head. Bready and biscuity malt aroma with lots of ginger and pear. Over sweet flavor with lots of pear and ginger juices, and bland dark-ish tasting malt.

330ml (as Marks & Spencer Ginger Ale) courtesy of Stuartyboy, caramel, ginger aroma with some vanilla, russet brown, very thin cream head, very sweet vanilla with a subtle ginger kick, oily, easy to drink

330 ml bottle It has enough ginger to dominate the aroma and flavor and to add a peppery bite to the feel, but enough dark malts and pear juice so that it’s not simply ginger flavored. O: flavorful and interesting, but avoid this if you do not like ginger.
