Trooper is a premium British beer inspired by Iron Maiden and handcrafted at Robinsons brewery. Being a real ale enthusiast, vocalist Bruce Dickinson has developed a beer which has true depth of character. Malt flavours and citric notes from a unique blend of Bobec, Goldings and Cascade hops dominate this deep golden ale with a subtle hint of lemon.

Wanted to try this beer as I wanted to see what Bruce Dickinson has come up with. A good, dark beer with noticeable fruity flavor hints

Bottle from Gardiner Haskings, Bristol. Appearance: medium white head, amber colour, clear, good lacing. Aroma: grain, apple, nails!!! Taste: bitter. Palate: light to medium body, medium bitter finish, flat. Overall: The Troooooooper!!!! Iron Maiden’s old classic, unfortunately the beer reminds new Maidens albums - average & boring. There’s also a bit of heavy metal in it - nails! Nevertheless it is worth trying. Cheers!

Robe ambrée et limpide. Pas de mousse. Arômes caramel et céréales, légères notes florales. Goût caramel, fruits jaunes, agrumes. Plutôt courte en bouche. Texture aqueuse.

Light amber clear beer with white head. Aroma: hint of malts (caramel, cookies, bread), hint of esters. Taste: light sweet from malts with light herbal bitter from hops. Palate: light to medium body, high carbonation. Overall: OKish bitter, BORING beer.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks Yoav. Hazy goldenj. Aroma of oxidation, cardboard, malt, honey, a bit of stale hops. Sweetish flavor with malt, a bit of cardboard, a honey note, and bitterish stale hops. Too old, but still pretty drinkable.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, drunk at home. Golden-orange brown, alarmingly glowy. Clear with a microfilm of white head. Pleasant smell, some sprucey hops mixed with the caramel base of the malt. Taste is sweetly malty as well but none the worse for it, although the buttering turn at the end tastes a bit artificial. Not a great finish - slightly too astringent - and the body is noticeably thin, carbonation a touch too heavy. Not a world-beater but it’s got a fair bit going for it.
