Great flavour with notes of fruit, yeast, I taste bread in the mid palate and chocolate in the finish. Rather dry and very alcoholic really nice, but too alcoholic tasting. delnoche (221), Germany

Very dark brown with half finger tan head. Aroma is very strong bubblegum and slight alcohol. Flavor is complex. Begins with bubblegum/candy. Earthy, toasty malt notes. A lot going on there I don’t know how to describe. Finishes equal parts sweet and bitter with some warming alcohol. Very interesting beer. Almost too sweet for me though. Definitely a "special occasion" beer. Rodders (114), Norwich, Norfolk, England

Smell was dark chocolate malt with coffee and burnt toast. Big, rich. Taste is strong dark roasty malt, super saturated mouthfeel with a little alcohol aftertaste. Warming. Wine and brandy notes with more grapes, chocolate - brilliantly balanced. Some coffee too. Excellent. Perhaps served a little too cold, but not the beers fault. drowland (1380), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Bottle. Amazing beer. Massive in every aspect. Pours deep dark brown with beige head that lasts a while. Caramel, toffee, brown sugar, fresh bread, lavender and cinnamon are all present on the nose. Flavour is pretty sweet but it packs so much in: starts out with caramel, vanilla and raisins, then running into bready, yeasty tastes before finishing with a bit cinnamon, nutmeg and coriander. One of my favourite beers. Cannot recommend highly enough. RuneStumo (506), FØRRESFJORDEN, Norway

Dark brown colour with off-white head. Rich malty aroma. strong alcohol taste gives a rich full body. Spicy, bitter and sweet. Very nice beer! whiterabbit (20), Australia

Maybe I had it too cold but it was too strong on the nose (even in a big Duvel Glass). Pours and looks beautiful and even finishes nicely. Will have to try this again as I feel like I must be missing something!
