Commercial Description:
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

A nose of cassis, alcohol and chocolate. Taste is very subtle and vinous and contains plums, chocolate and a little bit alcohol. It’s smooth yet complex, but not really as fantastic as I remember it.

bottle. raisin colored. Perfect level of carbonation. Every drink seemed a different variation on a mildly spicy with stronger plum / raisin taste. from father’s office

Bottle. Brown colour with a beige head. Sweet, malty, berries, dark fruits, dark sugar, yeast, alcohol. Phenolics and spiciness are keept on a medium level and not too dominant. Smooth mouthfeel. Need to re-rate this one.

The world’s perfect dark beer in every way - including distribution. Great nose, great look, brilliant warm taste of dark fruitiness and wood. Excellent mouthfeel.

As you crack open the "big daddy" of the Rochefort trilogy, foam leaps out of the bottle and you’re urged to pour this hazy dark red/brown liquid of joy into your chalice. The sediment never really settles and the head is stable and thick. A vinous aroma welcomes you immediately, accompanied by dark, dried fruits, nuts, dark chocolate (no, not trail mix) and woody and caramel/vanilla overtones - no booze.

The mouthfeel is velvety smooth, full, with little carbonation, this goes down sooo smooth it’s incredible - and no booze anywhere. The flavours are of dark roasted malts, spices, coffee, chocolate (fantastic!) and almost anything you became acquainted with in the aroma. Everything is well balanced by aromatic hops, but they don’t play the leading role. The finish is long lasting, with a spicy burn, as if you’d enjoy a hot, well seasoned meal - and that’s a good thing to me. Absolutely great, wow!

Pours a dark, chocolate (almost black) with a lovely head. Maple, black cherries, and pears on the nose. Prunes, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, raisins, oak, and alcohol with a round, sweet, and lingering perfection. Subtle, distinct, diverse, and sweet. As the glass warms, so does the body.
