JoeyRed (4), Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jun 16, 2009 I found this bottle at a local Beer and Wine distributor in Delaware.
I recalled excepts from this brewery awhile back and was quite astonished to find it.
It poured nicely a dark amber color relinquishing a thick beige head. After letting it settle for a minute.
inhaling and tasting the aroma rich flavors of fruits and herbal intoxication.
The alcohol is well hidden from this 11.3% ABV blend though creating a soothing and warming sensation on it’s way into the depths of my body.
A top-notch, creature.
ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jun 16, 2009 bottle from joes place. poured a murky brown with a great beige head. aroma of bread, caramel, prune, brown sugar, and plum. flavor was brown sugar, plum, alcohol, and caramel. full body with high carbonation. Pipper (225), Ohio, USA Jun 10, 2009 Updated: Jun 11, 2009Poured from bottle with a slightly redder-brown color than the bottle color itself. Massive head to begin with that slowly settled to around a 1/4 inch. Aroma is boozy dried apricots/juicy prune. Wow, this is my first Rochefort, so smooth on the palate and that 11.35 abv is dangerously well-hidden. Enjoying this delightful beer with dark chocolate covered orange peels, perfect which pairs nicely together. It reminds me of a more floral aroma version of the Duchess de Bourgogne. Nice warming alcohol finish. Yum. direwolf9 (29), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2009 Beer just doesn’t get any better than this one. Have had on tap in Brussels numerous times and from bottles here in the States and each and every time the taste, aroma, feel and drinkability just knocked my socks off. This and Westy 12 are the definition of great beer. beernbourbon (230), chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pour is lake water-murky brown with large tan head. Aroma is dried fruit, raspberries, sour malt, touch of alcohol, and a hint of brandy. Flavor is a sleeper. It starts slow with bubbly subtle malt. Then a complex earthy fruit flavor emerges from underneath. It’s dates, raisins, prunes, cinnamon, cloves, and alcohol; strong alcohol. A bit of brown sugar in the finish. Solid, but not quite all I was expecting. kevd193213 (477), Hope Valley, Rhode Island, USA Jun 9, 2009 Bottle. Nice trappist-brown cloudy pour with a medium light brown head. Aroma of caramel and raisins. Great taste of plums, dark fruit, figs and caramel with faint hints of brown sugar and yeast. Slight warming alchol finish. zapprentice (309), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 8, 2009 Great brew. Completed my series of having 6,8, and 10 in a row. Aroma is some fruits, both dark and citrusy, with floral and chocolate notes. Flavor is just full of various flavors, fruits, chocolate, coffee, sugars. Good stuff.
