4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a dark brown with a huge, latte colored soapy head that dissipates then leaves a nice film throughout. Lots of dark fruit on the nose: plum, raisin, prune along with sorghum, bread pudding, star anise, clove and nutmeg. Taste is fairly similar with lots of combinations of the flavors above standing out at different times. Hides the ABV fairly well, but still has some slight booziness. Finish is dry with that classic Belgian yeast characteristic. Very solid, but I prefer the Rochefort 8 all day.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark hazy brown.
Raisins, prunes, brown sugar, overripe banana
Sweetish, but surprisingly dry for the abv. Very full body. Chocolatey.
This is a little too intense for me, but very very good.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, raisins, blue currants, licorice, red wine, coffee and chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, mild bitter, well balanced and long lasting. Body is medium, texture is creamy and carbonation average. A favourite.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Really bubbly compared to Abt12, but very good. Sweet caramel taste. Has that real Belgian taste you just don’t get in American versions. Lots of bread yeast notes in the smell and taste. Some dark fruit taste. Hints of spice. Just a really great beer.

Absolutely great, I would say this is the second-finest of the Trappist beers. Very dark, rather strong aroma, and with a strong taste that stays with you for a while. Easy to find in Belgium.
