The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Outstanding complex Trappist, my favourite beer so far! The taste is the best part of this beer, with an unrivaled complexity and balance.

birra dal color bronzo, ottima la densità al palato. Il sapore è equilibrato tra fruttato ed amaro nasconde i suoi 11,3· alc. Consiglio di lasciarla nel bicchiere per qualche minuto per assaporarla al meglio! Ala salute

Dark brown color. Very enjoyable ale. One of the best enjoyable aroma and taste - raisins. Incredibly complex and ballanced. Great for summer. Liked the aftertaste - very smooth and sparkling. Unlike other summer taste beers - this is serious and manly stuff. Great ale!

Kita (971) - Koper, SLOVENIA - JUN 28, 2014
Bottle, 0.33l. Murky dark brown color with medium frothy tan-like head, sparkling appearance and many yeast particles floating. Aroma of dark fruits, wine, caramel, spicy yeast and alcohol. Taste starts with rich and moderate sweet caramel malt and fruity, following is yeasty acid with strong alcohol note, mouthfeel is spicy and warming, while finish is almost without any bitterness. Full body, thick texture and lively natural carbonation. Very rich and bold brew, when drinking it slowly, you don’t feel that alcohol so much...

Bottle. Dark brown with large foamy beige head that dissipates quickly, slighjt caramel aroma, sweetish caramel-cherry taste with roasted malt at the background, mediuim carbonation, long finish with smoky aftertaste. One of the greats, happy to finally rate it though I had tried it quite a few times in the past!

29/V/14 - 33cl bottle after mass in the cathedral @ De Rechtvaardige Rechters (Gent) - BB: 6/II/19 (2014-571)

Little cloudy dark brown beer, creamy beige head, irregular, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: caramel, dark chocolate, bready, bit hoppy, some banana, yeast. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: sweet start, bit sugary, alcohol, caramel, dried fruits, nice bitterness, bit tangy, some chocolate. Aftertaste: little sweet, caramel, dried fruits, bit of hops, some dark chocolate, hint of mocha, more chocolate. Have been postponing my rating for this one forever, although I’ve had it on multiple occasions before this rating. Sort of a "kill your darlings", right?

A beer on the ratebeer top 50 available locally which I havent rated, whats going on. 330ml bottle from Next Door in Sundrive. Brown pour, copper-ruby highlights in the light, foamy, then fizzt light-tan head which quickly fizzles away to nothing. Dark fruits - cherries, plums & raisins, oaky notes, leather, hazelnuts, smokey phenols, candi sugar, touches of tcp/band aids in the aroma. So much flavour, so complex. Sweet and malty up front, rich dark fruit sweetness in the middle, nuts, molasses, wine or sherry like tannins toward the finish. Theres a muted herby bitterness there too. Texture is rich and almost syrupy, nice amount of carbonation. Finish is long fruity, and sweet, with some warming alcohol. Really nice, but prefer the 8 slightly.

Very good beer. Something was missing for me in the body and it finished a little short. My expectations were very high. Im glad to have a few more but not excited about it.
