COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

0,33lt bottle @ Valentin - Curious Bierkneipe, Volos, Greece Full body, dark cloudy beer. Aromz is sweet and reminds wine, got also some nuts and chocolate in the nose. Taste very rich, complex. Medium carbonation, brown foam that disappears quick. Better z bit more warm to drink (12-15 Degrees Celsius). One of the best, similar to the Westvleteren XII

Dark brown color, , foam disapperes quickly but it has strong smell, very complex aroma, sweet caramel start and great roasted nuts aftertaste, light carbonation, powerfull aroma and rich complex taste no doubt about it, the best word for describing it would be "wow"

Bière douce belle couleur brune. Elle se révèlent en deuxième bouche assez franche.

Flavours and aromas of some kind of very dark fruits (pruneau, berries), hint of acidity. Top quality beer. My favourite trappist ! Pretty poor on the palate though, it’s probably because the aromas and flavours are so powerful, sweety/fruity aftertaste. Very lowly sweet and bitter You should try this one out.

L: pours a very dark mahogany, with a huge beige head that won’t quit. S: the aroma is instant dark fruit and Belgian yeast character. As it warms and opens up it’s all plums, fig, currants, there’s a lovely malt presence, toffee, slightly sweet, a touch of booze. Towards the end I got nuttiness mixed in. Marvelous. T: follows all the aromas, but leans a bit more with a vinious alcoholic flavour, totally balanced and warming. F: nicely carbonated in the first wash, then velvety smooth till the finish, warming and coating the tongue. O: this or Abt 12? I have no idea, I love them both, quads would possibly be my favourite style and this tops the tree. Stupendous drinking experience. Now to get my hands on Westy 12.

Bottle. Very dark hazy caramel color with caramel color foam. Thick aromas of dried fruit, figs, sweet, deep, malty and strong, 1st sip the alcohol stood out, but quickly smoothed out and became much more enjoyable. Thick full body with a smooth nice thick long finish. Taste, malty, oily, nutty, some fruit notes. Overall really good beer, really enjoyable to drink easy going and smooth.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2016 0,33l bottle. Hazy brown colour with big foamy tan head that quickly shrinks to small size but after it stays. Aroma: sweet caramel with candy sugar, fruits, nuts. First I smelled some soapy aroma, but it vanished away quickly. Taste: Oh yeah. This is a serious beer. Very sweet malty taste, but not too harsh, well blanced. Hiding light bitterness. Lots of fruits, raisin, caramel taste, chocolate. The aroma doesn’t lie. Full of flavours. I can’t feel the high abv in the taste, just slowly in my head. Warming my stomach. Full body. Mild carbontion with long sweet/light bitter finish. King of the Quadrupels? Maybe. But one of the best beers in the world.

I forgot how good this beer was. Pours a cloudy, dark brown, with a tan head that disappears - but the lacing lasts long. Smell of plum and port wine. Very smooth, but with lively carbonation hitting the back of the throat. Plum, port wine, dark fruit taste. A bit of a flowery, perfume mouthfeel. Hints of Belgium yeast, but not as pronounced in my opinion as some other Belgium ales. Sweet beer. No alcohol burn, but can notice the affects before the glass is finished.

Slight sweet...no alcohol taste, a big surprise considering the ABV %. I’m a bit put off by a cloudy appearance however the taste and aroma win me over. A fine Belgian, I’ll drink again.
