This is possibly the best beer I’ve had. Pours a hazy dark brown, with a thick creamy head that grows a little then hangs with the glass all the way down. Has a nice sweet aroma with hints of coco. Wonderfully sweet taste with a slight bitterness, leaves the throat with a warm feeling. This brew is very deserving of its score. Everyone should try this brew.

Dark pour, raisin and spice in aroma, as well as flavor, with added burnt figs. This one is dry with distinct stiff finish (bicarbonate in water?).

Bottle, served in Orval chalice. Poured a cloudy dark brown with a bubbly off-white head. Large champagne-like bubbles eventually broke down into much smaller ones, leaving a velvety thin head. Appearance takes a hit for the odd combination of floating bits and strange lack of lacing. Fruity aroma with a touch of alcohol in the nose, like any big beer. Roasted malt and fruits stand out amongst the complex and subtle flavors, especially plum. Great creamy palate lasts from the first sip to the final drops.

Thin white head, cloudy, ultra dark ruby color when held up to the light...dark brown without the light. Smell of toffee, candy sugar, and dark, ripe fruits...rainins, figs...touch of dried cherry. Taste matches aroma, with a hint of brown sugar. Small tight bubbles and tingly mouth feel. Alcohol is dangerously well hidden, and balances out the sweetness perfectly.

bottle: pour with a large off white head. Smells of raisans and a sour something. Taste was sweet, slightly alcoholic, and toasted malts. Medium mouth feel. Overall: smooth from the beginning to the end. I can see why this rates so high, but it isn’t my favorite, but its up there.
