fistfull (22), USA Oct 17, 2009 Drank it just two hours after bottle was turned upside down during travel home. Murky mahogany appearance; clouded by bottle yeasts but who care? I was happy to HAVE those yeasts! Great head! Impeccable balance and ’CLASSIC’ Belgian notes. Nuances of dried stone fruits, chocolate. Deep malty background with distinguished fruity ester notes in aroma! Outstanding! Wish I could afford to drink two of THESE everyday... twindog (69), Hampstead, Maryland, USA Oct 16, 2009 Pour’s drak and merky Chocolate with a thick ten lase with brown head. Overall one of the best belgian ale i had. Complex and cool. 09maso3 (69), vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Oct 15, 2009 Dark brown and highly carbonated, hardly any head. Aroma is very deep and complex. In order of decreasing prominence: Dark fruit, alchohol, leather, cigar smoke, licorice/aniseed. Ripe fruit is more prominent in flavour. Vanilla becomes present. Very thick and warming. Alcohol becomes slightly cloying. Idealy it should be consumed with/as a desert. patrickfannon (271), Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 14, 2009 Bottle. 11.2 oz. Split with Sean and Dave. Pours murky brown/amber with a thick, cloudy beige head. Aroma of raisins, figs, vanilla, chocolate, and traces of alcohol. Fuller bodied with a warm finish. Very good quadrupel. caresville (106), Vernon, New Jersey, USA Oct 13, 2009 100th RATING!! i am a virgin to this holy beer and have waited a while for this one. it is not disappointing me at all!! Pours a deep, dark murky brown with lots of yeasty floaties and a nice beige head. aroma of alcohol, raisins, plums, pears, prunes, and the list goes on. tastes mostly like the smell minus the alcohol is well hidden until the somewhat burn of a swallow. notes of vanilla, flavored malts, and figs also. wonderfully balanced and super smooth. lives up to the hype for sure!! zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Oct 11, 2009 Pours red to brown hazy with a nice tan head, aroma of fruits like pinapple, apple, apricot and citrus with some marmalade, complex full flavor of sweet caramel, toffee and apricot, finishes with cinnamon, clove and nice dry fruit sweetness. Rich full bodied. Excellent beer themightyomega (82), New York, USA Oct 11, 2009 Bottle. Pours chocolate brown with nice tan head. Aromas of fruit and wine with a faint alcohol hint. Flavors very rich, sweet raisin and fruit, with a bit of alcohol burn. Gentle bitter aftertaste, but lots of sweet, too. Thick, velvety mouthfeel. Looks great and tastes great too.
