COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The top product from the Rochefort Trappist brewery. Dark color, full and very impressive taste. Strong plum, raisin, and black currant palate, with ascending notes of vinousness and other complexities.

Bottle. Very dark hazy caramel color with caramel color foam. Thick aromas of dried fruit, figs, sweet, deep, malty and strong, 1st sip the alcohol stood out, but quickly smoothed out and became much more enjoyable. Thick full body with a smooth nice thick long finish. Taste, malty, oily, nutty, some fruit notes. Overall really good beer, really enjoyable to drink easy going and smooth.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2016 0,33l bottle. Hazy brown colour with big foamy tan head that quickly shrinks to small size but after it stays. Aroma: sweet caramel with candy sugar, fruits, nuts. First I smelled some soapy aroma, but it vanished away quickly. Taste: Oh yeah. This is a serious beer. Very sweet malty taste, but not too harsh, well blanced. Hiding light bitterness. Lots of fruits, raisin, caramel taste, chocolate. The aroma doesn’t lie. Full of flavours. I can’t feel the high abv in the taste, just slowly in my head. Warming my stomach. Full body. Mild carbontion with long sweet/light bitter finish. King of the Quadrupels? Maybe. But one of the best beers in the world.

I forgot how good this beer was. Pours a cloudy, dark brown, with a tan head that disappears - but the lacing lasts long. Smell of plum and port wine. Very smooth, but with lively carbonation hitting the back of the throat. Plum, port wine, dark fruit taste. A bit of a flowery, perfume mouthfeel. Hints of Belgium yeast, but not as pronounced in my opinion as some other Belgium ales. Sweet beer. No alcohol burn, but can notice the affects before the glass is finished.

Slight sweet...no alcohol taste, a big surprise considering the ABV %. I’m a bit put off by a cloudy appearance however the taste and aroma win me over. A fine Belgian, I’ll drink again.

Bottle, 330ml. A dark brown beer with a medium size head. Aroma is of banana, spices, clove and alcohol. There is also belgian yeast that reminds me of other trappist beers I have tasted. Taste is bittersweet with a complex character. Robust bodied with some carbonation and considerable astringency. Aftertaste is full of spices with an alcoholic finish. Has a lot of character. Very dificult to drink and appreciate, but truly a world class beer.

Bottle, 33cl. Opaque dark brown with a swirling creamy brown head. Entrancing aromas of banana, dried fruits, bubblegum, vanilla and other spices, Belgian yeast, alcohol esters, maybe even a slight smoked touch. Robust bodied with moderate carbonation. Rich, smooth and creamy, with tremendous complexity. Sweet malt and fruity character with an oak, dried fruit and alcohol finish. Stunning beer.

My best quadrupel. The dark fruit character is really distinctive, a little bit spicy. Sweet, balanced, not much alcohol, must try.

I have been regularly drinking this beer a few times per month for the past 2 years or so. It is one of my go-to beers. The subtle sweetness combined with malt is outstanding. The soft fermentation absolutely compliments the flavors. I absolutely believe that this beer is one of the top 10 in the world and is probably the easiest to procure of any beer in this class. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
