MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA Mar 1, 2009 Bottle. Poured a motor oil color with a 1 to 2 finger off-white head. Aroma was very fruity with a semi strong alcohol smell. . Flavor was similar to the aroma. Started off sweet and fruity (raisin, fig?) and ended with a noticeable alcohol burn. Drinks more like a wine than an ale. Very complex and tasty. Still undecided whether I prefer St. Bernardus 12 over this or not. Tough call. Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Mar 1, 2009 Poured a dark brown/black color with a thick off white head and lots of yeasty chunks floating. Aroma is molasses, brown sugar, prune, a slight vanilla hint and kinda woody aroma. Flavor is pretty sweet and smooth. Notes of brown sugar and molasses hit first moving into a very mild vanilla, some coffee bitterness toward the end but finishes with a very sweet mildly dry finish. The texture of the beer is thick and semi-chewy with a very effervescent feel to it from the high carbonation. The alcohol is pretty well hidden as you could definitely not tell it was at 11.3%. Overall a very good beer, well worth the money and a very complex, smooth beer with lots to offer. judasbeer (229), Budapest, Hungary Feb 28, 2009 Black colored with subtle ruby hues. Stable creamy tanned brown, fully lasting with excellent retention. Very complex fruity, vinous aroma with tons of sweet black currant and tart red currant, plums, ripe fruits.
As you conditioning in the air its getting more complex. Perfectly smooth, balanced flavor with dark chocolate, mild coffee , tart and sweet blue or black berries. Vineous finish. Full bodied without being harsh or heavy, its extremely smooth bodied with smooth oily texture and smooth carbonation. The beer of meditations. I can’t express myself how much i respect it. Word class. I will definitely taste it in matured versions. sja14 (105), Ohio, USA Feb 28, 2009 Great beer. Very complex flavor with many different layers. Can’t really get into details. Dark with a nice head and fruity flavor. Britton (6), Hadley, Massachusetts, USA does not count Feb 27, 2009 Check plus! A wonderful quad from a wonderful (non-profit?!) brewery! Murcy, dark and opaque in appearance with a ~1 finger head. Dark, fruity aroma and a delicious flavor of nuts and sweet dark fruits. A lovely hint of sugary sweetness as well. baggio (195), norrtälje, Sweden Feb 27, 2009 Bottled@home

One of the best beers in the world. Period. Gualthiero (35), Antwerp, Belgium Feb 26, 2009 Nice, though not very outspoken aroma.
Taste is great. Bit peated, caramel.
Great aftertaste that lasts. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Feb 26, 2009 Updated: Oct 8, 2009Eveytime I see that beige bottle label and holy grail lettering I smile and crack open a few . Spicy , herbally ,boozy chocolatre driven ale. I reckon the booze is a little more erratic and less smooth than the 8 but shit that’s being picky as this is sick beer.
