3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Strong in color and taste. The alcohol is strong but with all the different flavors going on it is not overpowering. I do get just a odd bit of salt.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (from Bitter Virtue, BBE Jul 2010). Raisins, bready malts, some chocolate, caramel and lots of alcohol. This was nice and richly balanced but two things prevented me from enjoying it more. Firstly the high alcohol presence and secondly the high carbonation level which seemed inappropriate in a beer of this strength and depth.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured a dark color and aromas were sweet and spicy. Flavor was sorta malty and a bit sweet but very nice. I really enjoyed this brew even though how strong it is.

Bottled. Pours a super deep brown color. A little sediment floating around. Sweet aroma. Caramel and sweet candy, along with some dark fruit. Slightly sweet malty flavor up front. Dark fruits and roasted malts. Maybe even a little chocolate. Slight alcohol burn.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2007 Bottle says 06 10 04. Sampled 04 17 07. Medium sized bubbles on quickly dispersing head. Aroma of caramel and leaves. Deep burgundy appearance. Alcohol, plum and raisin notes. Tastes wonderful. Full, thick, lively and long. I always feel happier after I’ve had one.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
33cl bottle. Pours a cloudy walnut colored haze with a thick slighly off white head. Aroma has notes of caramel, sweet alcohol, and has a burnt nuttiness. Flavor is of alcohol, dark fruits, with a hint of chocolate. Finish is somewhat souring. Fizzy, yet silky medium mouthfeel that coats the tongue. This is quite amazing.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
33cl Bottle. Just as good as everybody claims. Fantastic aroma. Nice and "warm" taste with a touch of plum and caramel. Only a slight (warming) taste of alcohol (considering the %). A very complex beer that you can enjoy again and again (and again)

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a big fizzy head with a hazy carmel colored liquid, with the aroma of carmelized sugar and raisins. The flavors of alcohol, fruit and a bit of carmel...very suttle carmel. A bitter aftertaste almost like the skin of a plum meets you after a dry, malty mouthfeel. An excellent beer with nothing to hide,
it even gives your burps a pleasant flavor. I didn’t really mind paying 6.99 for it either, mainly for the fact that I don’t think I could drink more than one of these bastards in a night.
